New pool owner green all season HELP!

@hawkinsrt Regardless of sand age, after a backwash cycle of about 2 minutes or clear water, you need to run the rinse for about 30 seconds or until the water is clear and then go back to filter cycle. If you don't rinse, you get what's happening in the picture you posted when you turn it back...

Thanks for the heads up. What would the best process be? Turn the feeder off before turning the pump off or just relocating the feeder? I can move the feeder closer to the return port on the pool about 15 feet away.

@JamesW, The chlorinator has approximately 7' of pipe between it and the filter and sits on the return line to the pool. I do not have a check valve between it and the filter so If this is the cause it must have seeped back into it when the filter cycles off. I've replaced the gasket and as a...

    Funny looking gasket (pics)

During the draining process to get my CYA lowered I decided to take apart one of my filters. When disconnecting the lines I found the return gasket looked swollen. What would cause this? Did I have the hose to tight? In the photo, its the gasket on the left. The gasket on the right is what...

Hi! I’ve got green cloudy water and questions.

Hey Everyone! I have completed my drain and refill to get my CYA down from the initial 144ppm to what I believe is 45ish ppm. The pool refill was done using well water and I noticed a brown stain in the corner where the fill hose was. I'm assuming this is an iron stain as it wouldn't brush...

Hi! I’ve got green cloudy water and questions.

Thank you. I won't be able to do this until Sunday. Until then, is the pool safe to be in/swim? I have updated my pool math app to reflect the tests I just performed.

Hi! I’ve got green cloudy water and questions.

@mknauss Thank you for the guidance. The CYA test shows a result of about 55. Double that would be 110. Still very high and looks like ill be doing some draining this weekend.

Hi! I’ve got green cloudy water and questions.

To make sure I understand that correctly; the test indicates to fill bottle #9191 to 7mL. So, does that mean for a diluted test I need 7mL of pool water and 7mL of tap water, then add 14ml of the R-0013 reagent? Sorry, if I misunderstand this and I appreciate your help.

Hi! I’ve got green cloudy water and questions.

Um, Following the kit directions, it didn't reach the 100ppm level marker and I can only assume its over 100ppm. Its part lack of confidence and part not understanding the test yet that makes me unsure if I did this correctly.

Hi! I’ve got green cloudy water and questions.

I'm back with a test kit and water sample. I have added a gallon of liquid chlorine daily around 6PM-7PM starting this past Monday (so 4 gallons and documented on pool math.) I followed what I believe I read for how to test free chlorine and combined chlorine BUT, since it was my first test, I...
