How bad will it be without a cover

Waiting for leaves to fall. I'd say we're at 50% left.

How bad will it be without a cover

There was a chart or an article somewhere on what you had to do to protect your equipment at different temperatures but I can't find it. Does anyone have a link? We're getting down towards 24f over the next few days and I just wanted to look to see when I need to drain. I'm assuming I still...

How bad will it be without a cover

Last time I checked the water was down to 48F. FC 6.8, pH 7.6. It's certainly not using much chlorine, so there's that. My hand burns after cleaning all the leaves out of the skimmer mouth so I can pull the basket to dump it. But so far, I enjoy this much more than the cover.

How bad will it be without a cover

I'm assuming keeping the water below skimmer / return are still normal, and instead of draining the cover I'll be draining the pool to ensure this? What about pillows (ice compensators). I assume that's useless without a cover?

How bad will it be without a cover

Would there be any benefit to placing a small 1/6HP submersible pump near the center of the pool to keep water moving down under the ice without a filter? I highly doubt that would ever come close to freezing, so I'd feel safe with it but I have no way to include a filter that would be...

How bad will it be without a cover

I'm not terribly worried about the equipment as I let it run 24/7 all summer, so no reason I can't do the same in the fall. I think I should be completely safe until it's actually pretty cold out. It's a 2 speed pump and doesn't use much in low.

How bad will it be without a cover

So every year I close our pool fairly late in the year and then open it fairly early. I try to keep the water temperature low and so far I've yet to have to even vacuum the pool when opening. That being said.......how big of a surprise am I in for if I wait until most leaves have fallen and...

    Hayward ecostar on generator

When there's so many huge alternators running together I don't see how the frequency can shift much, everything needs to move together and that's a whole lot of "everything". How much does the grid frequency actually shift? I've never measured anything other than 60Hz but my equipment probably...

    Hayward ecostar on generator

@orangepower10 Did you ever have any luck getting things ironed out? Once you have the correct voltage I'd bet any generator could run that pump fine.

    Hayward ecostar on generator

Yeah, You'd need an oscilloscope not just a DMM. Small voltage changes also aren't usually an issue to my knowledge and most things don't mind the frequency shifting either. I set my generator to do 62Hz at no load and I think it drops to 58Hz or 59Hz at full load. Really, 99% of things in my...

It sends out cleaner power than the power company? Cleaner in what way and how do you know?

    Cloudy. Algae? Pollen?

How high can I go on FC without causing concern of damaging the liner over the long term? I.E. covering with 20ppm of FC, could this cause damage over the winter? Just trying to feel things out.

    Cloudy. Algae? Pollen?

I've haven't done anything with the filter, though it's not really shown any signs of having an issue either until maybe now. I think the pollen is coming to an end finally, at least going by my allergies. I can hope. The cold water is what I've been wondering about. I don't know if I've...
