Preparing for vacuum issue -- unscrewing outflow gasket under water is hard

Hi! I have an above ground pool with a sand filter, and I recently purchased an Intex vacuum powered by the pump. It's worked just fine the several times I've used it. However, as I have increased the water level above the level of the outflow, I now can't take it off in order to connect the...

Flat backwash hose for intex sand pump

I have a 2800 gph Intex sand pump. I am trying to start the pool season, and I want to backwash the pump, which I used last year for the first time. I purchase one of the flat 2" hose but I can't seem to fit it on the drain of the pump. It is too tight somehow. I need a good 15 foot minimum...

Preparing for freezing temps with unwinterized AGP pool

For a number of reasons, I didn't winterize my AGP pool. And on top of that, I'm awaiting a deep freeze here in Houston that might reach into the 20s for two days. What should I do with a few hours left? Keep the sand filter pump running? I'm not sure I have enough rubber stoppers to plug both...

If I may ask another question... Because of the placement of the pool and the pump, I need some distance to go to backwash the pump (maybe 10-15 feet to the lawn? 25 feet to soil?) Are those flexible 2" backwash hoses ok to use? They look awful flimsy. And they seem to need to be attached using...

Thank you everyone! I did it -- and I couldn't have done it without all y'alls help. I received the 2800gph sand filter pump a few days ago and prepared by studying the parts, and getting myself a little palette from Home Depot (I asked if I could buy one but they just gave it to me). I cut the...

Sorry, my hose clamps that came with my pool are plastic and I assumed that to be the case for you all as well. Given that I can't get that double plunger valve for weeks, I supposed I might have to try using an adapter to go from the existing 1.25" t-junction to the 1.5" hose going into the pump.

Great confirmation. Too bad I have to wait weeks for this one part, even from Amazon. :( You like those metal ties better than the plastic ones?

Now I understand. But you did that only because the double plunger wasn't available then, right? So to summarize, you are doing the following: 1.25" to 1.5" adapter -> plunger valve -> 1.5" hose -> pump. I guess you could have also cut a 1.5" hole in the liner and avoided using the adapter...

Oh yeah, that's so helpful and illustrative! So you're using some sort of double plunger valve as the T junction. Something like this on Amazon? I assume it takes 2 1.25" hoses and converts to a single 1.5" outflow? So is this the reason for not needing to cut 1.5" holes around the twin water...

Oh, I definitely want to run whatever hose that maximizes flow -- this is the whole point of getting this pump! I only got two longish 1.5" hoses in the sand filter package (as per my picture above). I was thinking to use 1 of them to return water to the pool, cutting a 1.5" hole in the vinyl...
