Have this drain beside pool and previous owner said I could use it to drain out water from behind liner if ever needed. What is this kind of drain called and how does it work? Seems every time it rains here the liner starts to float, this would be really helpful if it does work that way.

Morning, had a new vinyl pool liner placed after about 5 years of just having pool covered, and also had sand replaced in filter. Water finally filled pool to skimmer 2 days ago(Wednesday) and turned on pump and "mud" came out of jets for about 20-30 seconds. I used enough cya to raise it to 40...

Thanks for the fast reply, looking closer now it appears to have about a foot long tear in liner right around a jet site, looks like I'll be replacing the liner. Glad to have found this forum, and hopefully after liner is replaced will never have a green pool like this again!

Uncovering a pool for first time in a long while. Of course it's green and nasty but the sides of liner are coming off with water behind in several spots. Would like to slam it but do I need to fix liner first?
