    Pitting and algae

Hi, pool has been doing well for last two years, but noticed much more pitting and algae in pits. Pictures are on the way. I’ve had this problem before, but not like this. I’ve followed SLAM method, but can’t seem to maintain FC. pH likes to creep up, but goes down with MA. Alkalinity is if and...

    Fiberglass pool difficult to manage

Sounds like a plan, thanks! FC was 10 last night and 9.5 this morning and looked much better. I think reagent is bad, it was near impossible to squeeze out of bottle. We had a bad cold snap, real bad a few months ago, and I think it's rearing it's aftermath on an old pool. Anyway, thanks, I'll...

    Fiberglass pool difficult to manage

Hi, I’ve had trouble with my pool since I joined this site. The last couple of years I’ve pretty much got it down. That was until yesterday. I left for work it was blue, came home to it green. A different green from years past posts. Very hard to scrub algae and other sediment off. I thought I...

    Emergency Pool Closing

Thank you sir, I am. I bought a 3/16 actually to pilot 3/4. I was initially worried about creating more concrete dust, but I’m a bit, pardon the pun, neurotic.

    Emergency Pool Closing

Thanks. That was my thought. Just need an extra set of hands for anchors. I’m handy with a rotary hammer drill, but when it’s your new pool deck...I guess no sense in testing water, since so outta whack with no circulation.

    Emergency Pool Closing

Hi, I’ve been working my tail off, and had to hire someone to close pool. He winterized lines, but never came back to treat water or put cover on pool. I have a ton of large trees around pool. I’ve scooped and scrubbed, but an uphill battle by myself. Pool looks awful, which is a travesty...

    Balancing chemicals is killing me

Good to know someone else has had similar problems, kinda. I too get spots, but I brush 2-3 times a day at least. I like 10% idea, but I’ve even kept it at 12-15 FC for weeks. The spots are a bit strange. Sometimes in shallow end with same steps you mentioned, but almost always a thin thread...

    Balancing chemicals is killing me

Cantanzaro just saw reply. Baker-Hydro control plate is a plastic diverter made to “evenly” pull through skimmer and main drain. I always add bleach, less than 69 days old, closet kept, at night. I’ve measured the pool multiple times. I know it doesn’t make any sense. Thanks. - - - Updated - -...

    Balancing chemicals is killing me

Thanks for response, I completely agree, that’s why I’m back on here. I use the Taylor kit mostly, but I’ll double check it with others I have. The amount of bleach I’ve had to use is absurd. I’ll bet I’ve rechecked CYA 15 times this summer. Obviously, had to buy supplemental reagents. pH will...

    Balancing chemicals is killing me

Hi, I’ve battled this pool for 2.5 years. One common denominator is high pH, low TA, and low FC. Weirdly, it looks pretty good. I wonder how many times I’ve used SLAM this season alone? Anyway, I’ll post current results, because they don’t very much. FC 0.5 CC 0 pH 8+ TA 50 CH 250 CYA 35-40...

    Green swamp frustration

I need to add a few things. pH goes way up during the day. Like 7.2-8 while I’m at work. The trees that overhang the pool are of oak variety. They drop leaves, dirt, etc...FC was 3.5 when I went to bed and this morning. Pool was a cloudy blue green. Came home to a swamp, but all levels the same...
