Testing FC with Taylor K-2006 Question

When I add the drops to turn the color from pink to clear, the water turns clear and then after a minute turns back to a pink. Should I continue adding drops when this happens or record the number of drops it took to get it to clear initially?

    Opening Pool for First Time

I have a SWCG. Is 30 okay for the CYA or should I get it up to 70 if possible? If 30 is okay, would I need to leave the SWCG off and raise FC to 12, or if 70 is what I need would I raise FC to 24? Does the SWCG need to be off either way?

    Opening Pool for First Time

I've only added 10 lbs. of the Calcium. Do I need to attempt to get my FC to the correct level before or after getting the CYA to the correct level? If I understand correctly, the CYA is what keeps the FC at the correct level and if CYA is at the correct level then wouldn't that make it harder...

    Opening Pool for First Time

I took the cover off of my pool a few weeks ago and began cleaning it before doing anything else. Last week, I was ready to check my levels because I kept getting a black algae on the bottom and floating on top. Other than that, the water is very clear. I took a sample to my local pool store to...

    Intex Closing Plugs

I’m wanting to close my Intex pool for the winter for the first time. Winters aren’t too harsh here. I plan to just plug my inlet and outlets but the black rubber stoppers still allow water to leak out. Does anyone have any suggestions for plugs?

    Winter Closing Questions

This was my first year with a pool. I have the 22 x 52 Intex Ultra Frame. I bought the Intex SWG and added the amount of salt that the manual says for my size pool and my water stayed crystal clear all summer long without doing anything else. Now that it is getting too cool out to swim I am...

Intex First Start Up and Care

I have a 22’ x 52” Intex Ultra Frame pool I plan on putting up tomorrow. After getting it set up and start filling with water i plan to get in the pool and work the wrinkles out. I have a salt water system to hook up, is it better to put a little salt in at a time as the pool fills or to wait...

    Sand Bottom

    Ground Prep for Intex

Thanks for the responses! So is there any way to avoid the sand getting washed out?

    Ground Prep for Intex

The 4” drop I’m referring to is how far I had to dig on the high side to get it level to the lowest side. Therefore there is a 4” tall wall on one side of my pool site. Sorry for the confusion and lack of description. I hope this helps explain what I meant. What I’m asking is should I add some...

    Ground Prep for Intex

After leveling the ground, is it common to add something around the perimeter to keep the sand in such as the plastic landscaping edging or landscaping bricks, or does the sand just get spread across the site evenly and level and it stays in place good after compacting manually and with the...

My first season with my new Intex 22'×54" Above ground pool

Did you use something around the circle to hold in the sand other than your drop below grade? I’m working on leveling the ground for my first pool now, so I’m curious if I need to buy and install something around the perimeter to hold the sand in.

    Pool Bottom

What does everyone recommend for a pool bottom for an Intex AGP? Just sand? Sand and gorilla pad? Just gorilla pad? Sand and foam? Just foam? Getting ready to put up my first pool and I want to make sure I have everything figured out before I start. Thanks!

    Intex 22’ x 52” Questions

Just bought a new Intex 22’ x 52” Ultra Frame AGP. It came with a 2500 GPH cartridge filter. The pool holds about 10,500 at 90%. I have never had a pool, so I am new to everything. I have searched the forums and haven’t found direct answers to a few questions I have so I figured I’d ask them...
