    solar cover woes..HELP

Hi Dan, Someone on here suggested this approach to me and it's been working well for us. Cut your cover into sections. I have a 30' round and cut my cover in half. I also though about cutting it in thirds, but this seems to work pretty well. I was unwilling to spend the money on a reel...

    Anyone using a "solar saddle"?

cthuskies, Well, I wish I could show you, but unfortunately my busy schedule got in the way. I've decided to not drill thru the top rails, but instead I've made a template for a plate (made from sheet aluminum) that will secure to my posts and then attach to the u brackets. I'm planning on...

Question on Winter Mesh Cover for AGP w/surrounding Deck

I have a mesh cover, and I'm in a very open area where the wind comes whipping thru in the winter. My cover became a ballon when the air got under it. It looked like a giant jiffy pop  . I've tried clips, but that didn't help. I'm thinking of using cover wrap, or weighting it down...

Filling the gap between pool top rail & deck

Thanks for the good ideas. I'll have to make a run by the home center... The other reason I'd like to fill that is that I ran my deck boards parallel to the middle top rail and it varies by 1/4" from one side to the other. It's one of those things that bugs me when I look at it. Bob

Filling the gap between pool top rail & deck

I finally finished my deck. I left a decent gap between the top rail & the deck so I could get my winter cover on (1.5" maybe). As I'm looking at it , I can't help but think that somebody might catch thier toe in it. I thought I saw a pool catalog once that had something that was in tee...

28ft vs 24ft ABG pool (Bigger always better?)

Well, I have a 30', and while it's nice and roomy for the kids and all thier friends, the bigger you go, the harder it is to deal with. My biggest problem was finding a solar reel that would work for a 30' round. Most aren't made for something that big. I was about to go the route of building...

    DIY solar cover reel?

I decided to try something called a solar saddle which are essentially hooks which hang on the side of the pool. The cover folds into the hooks accordion style. You can find my thread here: http://www.troublefreepool.com/anyone-using-a-solar-saddle-t7708.html?hilit=solar%20saddle I haven't...

    Pump dying?

I actually managed to resolve my issue, I just didn't have time to post back. The morale of the story is don't assume a mechanical problem when you might have an electrical problem. I tore the whole pump down and didn't find any problems. However, the pump was plugged into an extension cord...

    Pump dying?

Must be the time for pump failures. I see a whole bunch of them posted all of a sudden. I have a 2HP aquatools pump driven by an AO Smith motor. It ran overnight & tripped the circuit breaker. I reset it and went back out and backwashed the filter. No problem so far. Shut it off and turned...

    Anyone using a "solar saddle"?

Hi Russ, Thanks for replying. Mine arrived last week and I haven't had a chance to install it yet. I took a look at the mounting bracket and it looks like it shouldn't be hard to mount it to the post using some angle brackets. I've been looking for some stainless steel ones so they won't...

    Anyone using a "solar saddle"?

OK. I found a site where I got this shipped for $70, so I figure it's worth a try. When I receive it I'll post my results. I found installation instructions online and the only potential problem I can see so far is they want you to drill through the top rails to mount the hooks. I'm not...

    Anyone using a "solar saddle"?

I was about to start building a custom reel for my solar cover when I came across this solar saddle. I traded my heavy cover for an 8 mil one so this could actually be useful. Thoughts? I saw it here: http://www.waterwarehouse.com/poolsuppl ... addle.html Thanks, Bob

    Liquidator install w/o drilling?

I bought a couple tees with slip fit on the top/bottom and a thread at the tee. That should make it pretty easy to disconnect come winter. Bob

    Liquidator install w/o drilling?

That's an interesting idea. I'll have to check that out. Bob

    Liquidator install w/o drilling?

I ordered my liquidator and it came today. I have an AG pool with PVC plumbing so that's not an issue. Rather than drill into the existing line, I would rather cut it and put a pvc tee in. Has anyone done this or would there be a problem doing the install this way? Thanks, Bob
