Thanks! I might try putting on a cuff. I thought it looked glued on but wasn't positive about it. Appreciate the clarification.

broken center pipe on lateral assembly

I was just changing the sand on my Hayward S166T sand filter and as I was removing the sand around the assembly my hand hit the center pipe and it broke off right where it goes into the center section. Are those center pipes glued in or threaded? I can't tell by looking. Everything else about...

    chlorinator leaks at control knob

Attached is a picture of my chlorinator and a close up of the control knob. When I turn the dial to increase the chlorine to the pool (counterclockwise) it starts leaking behind/around the knob at a pretty good amount. I have to set the dial almost completely closed to keep water from running...

    lint pot lid stuck tight

Has anyone ever ever had a situation where the lint pot lid was stuck so tight it was next to impossible to remove? I suspect that there may be a vacuum in the system that's pulling it down, but that's just a guess. Seems like an odd question I realize, but the lid is on so tight I need a small...

    dirt keeps coming back

Okay, got it. So I'll do an overnight FC loss test, see how much chlorine I'm losing and then if it's more than normal I SLAM it. I just ordered a test kit to do that so I'm going to have to wait for it to arrive. In the meantime, thanks very much!!

    dirt keeps coming back

I see how to do the test now. I just didn't look in the right place. So, what is happening? Is it that when I vacuum up the algae it just goes through the filter and comes right back out?

    dirt keeps coming back

I have been vacuuming my pool since we opened it in early May to try and get the bottom of the pool clean. There is sediment on the bottom that collects on the wrinkles and small divots. The chemistry is fine. I just changed the sand (yes I used pool sand) in the filter last year. I bought a new...
