    Cyanuric Acid Question

I actually have 4 skimmers. Should I put the socks inside the skimmer box? I've read that it should hang in front of the skimmer entry. How do you do this? What is used typically to weight the end of the sock to keep it in correct position. Also, one follow up question. I have 4 bottles...

    Cyanuric Acid Question

Just opened our pool and did a full range of tests using my kit. I understand everything except the cyanuric acid piece. When conducting my CYA test, it appears that my CYA is zero because the water was clear and I could easily see the black dot in the bottom of the tube. The cyanuric acid...

    slightly cloudy water

Thank you again. Since the last post, I have added 40 more ounces in addition to the 51 I had added previously this afternoon. According to the pool calculator, this should get the ph down in the 7.2 area. I will check in the am. The cloudiness is not real bad but it definitely is not as...

    slightly cloudy water

Thank you for your reply. I knew I had high ph and I have already added enough MA to reduce it to 7.5. I will go ahead and add the amount to lower it to 7.2 as you suggest. I am curious though about TA. The recommended levels according to pool school are 70-90+. I guess I thought since my...

    slightly cloudy water

I have maintained a crystal clear pool all summer but tonight it has become slightly cloudy. ph - 8.2 FC - 7.0 CC - 0 TA - 180 CH - 240 CYA - 30 As you can see my readings are good - I did add MA to lower ph down to 7.5. Can the high slightly high ph lead to cloudiness? Any ideas would be...

    Need possibilities

The pump was not slightly too hot to touch - It was scorching hot. The return jets are flowing well. What is the proper voltage or does it vary? I have a pool guy coming today with a voltmeter to get a reading.

    Need possibilities

So I had my pool pump motor replaced yesterday (because the motor was burned up). Everything was running fine last night, but the motor was INCREDIBLY hot to the touch. I don't think this is normal. I immediately turned it off but am wondering what the possible causes are for this problem...

No sound from pool equipment - please advise

Truthfully, I didn't touch the motor. I did try to turn breaker off for a few minutes and then back on - nothing happens - silence only. I'm not comfortable testing for voltage really. My wife thinks that she smelled a "hot" smell last night in there.

No sound from pool equipment - please advise

There is no timer. The pump runs 24/7 and always has. I'm a new pool owner, but all that's in there is: pump and filter. That's why I thought it must be a motor gone bad.

No sound from pool equipment - please advise

This AM, I didn't hear the normal humming of the pool equipment coming from the pool house. I went in and - silence. The breaker had not tripped. Even after turning the breaker on/off - I get nothing. What is my problem? A blown motor? I had just gotten my water clear and don't want to...

    New Problem - please help

No I didn't rinse after backwashing! Lesson learned. Do you think that was the problem? If so, how long to clear it up again?

    New Problem - please help

Yes, I seated the valve in position good. The handle did return to normal position. Could it have been that I didn't backwash long enough?

    New Problem - please help

I have been going through the shocking process all week and nearing the end (I thought). I woke up the AM and heard a louder than normal sound coming from the pool equipment house. I checked the pressure of the filter and it was up to 12 (normally runs at 6). I backwashed it and the pressure...
