Why do you do this to me pH?

I was doing ~20oz at a time haha ... appreciate you chiming in with this. I started doing a 1/2 gallon every few hours and finally hit 7.8 this afternoon!

Why do you do this to me pH?

Thanks! Added Borates last year so I’m hopeful there isn’t a noticeable scale increase. That’s a lot of MA! How much are you adding at a time?

Why do you do this to me pH?

Hi All - Happy Pool Opening Season! Have learned a lot from this community since first getting a pool in 2022. However, my pH is a constant struggle especially through the winter close period. The pH shoots so high it creates scale. Here are the results of my final test before closing...

    Metal Stains? New Gunite Pool

Vitamin C worked! It’s iron! Closing this Friday so will focus on fixing it this spring. Sounds like AA is easier to do in spring anyway since water will be cold. Only thing that’s not clear is the filter piece of AA. It says I should remove the filters from the large egg thing? Still not sure...

First Time Using TF-Pro Salt - Some Grey Matter in Pool

Was very similar last year. FC was higher on the day we closed obviously, but this was the last full test I did before SLAM. FC - 8 TA - 70 CYA - 70 pH - 7.5 CH - 400 Salt - 3900 CSI - 0.27

First Time Using TF-Pro Salt - Some Grey Matter in Pool

Thanks! Agree my CSI has been in an ideal range all summer. My concern is if the pH went from 7.6 to 8.2 in just a week, with TA of 60, that my pH will be through the roof by my April opening (we got scale last year).

First Time Using TF-Pro Salt - Some Grey Matter in Pool

Thank you, @PoolStored ! I did this over the last few weeks and my TA is now down to 60. I stopped adding MA last week and now I’m back to 8.2 (TA is still 60). Any idea why my PH could be rising? I’m worried I’ll get scaling this winter because the pH will continue to rise (like it did last...

    Metal Stains? New Gunite Pool

Thanks! Since I didn’t get clear results with Jack’s Magic … just bought some Vitamin C so hoping to confirm my suspicions this week.

    Metal Stains? New Gunite Pool

Just wondering ... is there a chance iron stains can be present even though iron isn't showing on a water test?

    Metal Stains? New Gunite Pool

Hi All - I had time to use Jack’s Magic and a chlorine puck to see if they’d remove the stains. Unfortunately, there was no noticeable improvement. Since the stains are in water 6 feet deep or more, it was hard to apply the test, but I believe I did it correctly. I’m unsure if the stains were...

First Time Using TF-Pro Salt - Some Grey Matter in Pool

Hi All - So my pH has started to get a little wacky and I'm having trouble getting it down from 8.2. TA is now up to 90. Pool math says I need to add just under a gallon of MA to get down to 7.2, which will help lower TA. My understanding is I should add the gallon over time and not all at...

    Leaking PVC Inlet/Outlet

Turns out the unions were cracked. Not clear when or how it happened, but unions were replaced and leaking has stopped :)

    Dolphin Nautilus - Organic Stains

Thank you, @reggiehammond. It's stains from organic material resting in the corners of the pool during winter months (6 months for us haha). I was hoping the 'brush' on a pool robot would have a similar effect as manually brushing the pool, but sounds like you're saying that's an unlikely...

    Dolphin Nautilus - Organic Stains

Hi All - Hope everyone is enjoying their last few weeks of summer. We have some organic stains in our pool. If we get the chlorine up close to SLAM levels, would the brushing from a Dolphin Nautilus be sufficient to remove the stains (in most cases)? Or is it something you think we'll have to...

    Leaking PVC Inlet/Outlet

Took off the unions and didn't find an O-ring on one union and the other had the O-ring between the heater manifold and the PVC. Not sure if that's right? Maybe they slipped out of place somehow? Having the builder come out and take a look now that this is beyond my skillset. Good news is...
