I replaced my brushes, belts and rings on my 5 year old M400. I figured if i was going to take it all apart I would do all three. Works great.

I had a similar issue last year. Start with die test around light, skimmer, returns, etc. Then a leak detection company if you can't find it and go from there. On mine it was the return fitting bulkheads, 2 of 3 cracked. Had to cut concrete and replace the fittings.

Update; New recirculating pump installed. Found a leak on the another hose but just needed hose clamp tightened. Some drips under the heater that are a concern. Don't know if it's residual water form the hose clamp leak or a crack in the heater housing. Heater is working along with...

Makes sense, didn't think about the seal. I guess I'm concerned about the T cracking if the water is heated. But, I guess I should stop speculating and just get the new pump in, fill it up and go from there.

I also would not leave the wires just taped. You didn't specify if they were inside a water proof junction box or just laying on the ground.

What type of salt were you using? I've been using Morton's solar salt (blue bag) for 20 years and never had any issues with staining.
