Leaves Found In Impeller - Getting Past the Pump Basket-How?

Re: Leaves Found In Impeller - Getting Past the Pump Basket- What I meant was that water coming from the pool is supposed to enter the basket through that U shaped opening. There should be some way to ensure that ALL water coming from the pool enters the basket, either by close mechanical...

Leaves Found In Impeller - Getting Past the Pump Basket-How?

Re: Leaves Found In Impeller - Getting Past the Pump Basket- From what I can see in this pump's design, if the seal around the U shaped opening is compromised in any way, then debris / leaves etc would be able to go around the basket and enter the impeller chamber. This can happen...

Leak started after pipe was cleared of clog

Yes, it is possible that during the process of clearing a clogged pipe, the pipe develops cracks or gets otherwise damaged.

Leaves Found In Impeller - Getting Past the Pump Basket-How?

Re: Leaves Found In Impeller - Getting Past the Pump Basket- If the basket gets so full with leaves and stuff, that water flow through it is severely restricted, then the suction of the pump could be strong enough to deform the basket a bit so that very thin objects (like leaves) could bypass...

Pool pump will not turn off

The relay running the pump is probably the one closest to the pump terminals. To be really sure you have to remove the circuit board, turn it upside down and trace the copper path leading to the pump terminals. The relays are soldered, very easy (for someone who knows what he is doing) to...

    Rattle in puck feeder

If at some point in time the top of the dial was unscrewed from its axle and then put back on, it could be aligned incorrectly and so the valve might actually be fully closed when pointing to some number other than zero. This can happen if the top dial and bottom axle part do not have a single...

Pool pump will not turn off

Could be a sticking relay switch. The electronic part of the timer drives a relay which operates the pump. When the pump is supposed to be off, according to the timer, but it is seen running, use the plastic handle of a screwdriver to tap the relay casing, observing if this makes the relay...

    Question about equipment brands

Maybe he just gets a better deal from Pentair, but he can't tell that to the end customer, can he? On the other hand, if he does sell lots of Pentair stuff, he might actually know how this Pentair stuff works, which is not bad at all. Just my 2c.

I need some Intex hard plumbing help.

I agree that plain flexible hose can do the job, unless it is bent around a very small radius, in which case, flow through the bent section could be significantly reduced, depending on how flexible is the flexible hose. My understanding is that Intex (and clones) had a real reason for not using...

1 HP Pump motor shot. Can I replace w/ 2HP waterfall motor?

Re: 1 HP Pump motor shot. Can I replace w/ 2HP waterfall mot This could be just worn bearings. Bearings are very cheap spare parts, and not hard to replace. No need for a specialist pool shop to do that at all. On the other hand, as both motors are of the same age, being exposed to the...

I need some Intex hard plumbing help.

Intex designed the OEM hoses for continuous flex. They obviously had in mind that the pool is not rigid and pool walls move when the pool is occupied, so it is better to have the hose flex with pool movement, than put repeated stress to the attachment points at the pool walls by using a more...

    Hayward Pump problem

I'll tell you a story about bearings. A few decades ago, I needed to replace a couple bearings, was too bored at the time to do it myself and gave it out to a reputable shop with instructions to replace two bearings. Got it back the same day, along with an invoice for two bearings plus labor...

    AAAARGGGGHHHHH Help with busted pipes!!!!

For the OP question, with that part broken off actually it is easier to troubleshoot the system. Connect some length of flexible pipe to the pump's output and run the pump checking for suction side air leaks along the way.

These things ought to be taught in schools. And I'm not joking either.
