Summer pool shut down for 3 weeks, this is what happens.

A day or two after I "opened" my pool my pump blew up. Not only was I without a pump for a week, I hadn't even gotten the pool cleaned up from all the Crud that fell into it off the cover. By the time I installed my new pump, it looked like King Kong had used my pool for a toilet.

    Milky cloud and white particles

Sounds like dead algae and other burnt up organic matter. I can go around and around my pool and I never seem to get all of it up in the water to get into the filter, so I have to break out the pool vac and vac it to waste. If I leave the filter on filter, it just fills up the sand filter then...

    Pool Pump recommendation needed

The new pump works great! It's very quiet on high speed. On low speed I can't even tell it's on most of the time. My big problem was that I had a pool, with no water circulation, in July. I've never seen my pool go from the greenish/dirty of opening to looking like King Kong had used it as a...

    Pool Pump recommendation needed

Sorry for the delay in the update. I wanted to run the pump for a few weeks before I posted my total experience with it. The following Monday July 13th, the pump arrived at my doorstep. Here it is: It also came with an instruction book with the general warranty info and such. The one thing...

    Pool Pump recommendation needed

Mike rules. I actually got this cheaper from Amerimerc and got to speak to a real live person. Three to Five days and I'll be putting this on my pool! Will keep you all posted.

    Pool Pump recommendation needed

It seems that Aqua Superstore didn't actually have the pump they advertised in stock and it would take an additional 7-10 days to get the pump on top of the normal shipping time. I need a pump before the government declares my pool a swampland reserve. The only other "substitutes" they could...

    Pool Pump recommendation needed

Yes, they told me they didn't carry the 2 speed Optiflo. They carried the Dyna but it was a no cord model only. I asked what that meant exactly, thinking I'd just have to buy a cord, she said it was a model meant to be wired straight into a powersource. No idea what that means, but she said it...

    How Many Gallons????

It depends on how deep your water is. According to our very own http://www.poolcalculator.com/ from this website, if your pool is 54 inches deep you should be at 8600 gallons. Plug your own numbers into the formula at the bottom. This place hasn't steered me wrong yet.

I called Amerimerc. They only sell a Hayward that's a two speed corded model. Ah well, the search continues...

    Pool Pump recommendation needed

I have been reading some good things about the Pentair pumps. Their website doesn't say if any of the Optiflo models they are selling are 2 speed. I guess I'll need to call them. One of the problems I had with my old pump was that it would be frozen every spring when I opened the pool. Every...

    Pool Pump recommendation needed

My pump motor kicked the bucket on me. Granted it was a 10+ year old motor and has been slowly losing performance over the past couple of years. While I was cleaning the pool out the motor started sounding like a bi-plane was flying over my house. Then it shut itself off and wouldn't turn back...

    SWG Startup with Algae?

The salt is in and dissolving. I hope all the little bubbles on the surface of the water is normal because my pool looks like a giant vat of bluish beer. I'm still not 100% clear, so I'm going to take a reading of my FC, CC, PH, TA, and Salt then see what I need to do to get it back up to shock...

    SWG Startup with Algae?

I got my kit today! My pool is blue but extremely cloudy. My pool is still coming down off the last shocking from a couple of days ago. Here are my numbers: FC: 15 CC: .5 Ph: 7.2 TA: 170 CH: 240 CYA: 75 I know for a fact I did the CC test right. I re-read the directions several times to make...

    SWG Startup with Algae?

You're right, I wasn't even thinking that my PH should drop when the chlorine came down from what I had it at. My kit gets here tomorrow and I'm sort of excited to know what my numbers are. I found muriatic acid at the Ace Hardware in Newburgh in the Apple Center. It was $5.99 a gallon, so next...

Zodiak SWG can not go above lowest setting

I'm pretty sure your CYA needs to be higher. According to the manufacturer, your CYA level should be between 40ppm-100ppm. The TFP Pool School Article recommends 80ppm. When your stabilizer is low, your chlorine will disappear faster. The manual for your SWG says it's only made to maintain FC...
