Buster Crabbe Liner Replacement - Columbus Ohio

Update here: I am going to have 614 pools replace my liner in the spring, I'm 3rd or 4th in line once the weather gets warm enough. The price is $6,650 (plus tax 🙃) I paid them the 50% deposit and they have come out and measured. They are waiting on us to decide on our liner pattern. They have...

Buster Crabbe Liner Replacement - Columbus Ohio

One of my buddies had 614 pools replace his liner on a conventional in-ground pool and was happy. I obviously can't speak to their work on a buster crabbe liner install. I knew it was going to be time to replace my liner soon even without the tear as I believe the liner is ~15 years old. I...

Buster Crabbe Liner Replacement - Columbus Ohio

@hagemenp Sorry that I missed this back in July! @Jeffshank  Yeah, I called a bunch of companies and got quotes over the phone then had Clear Water Pools come out to get a quote. They took one look and said they don't work on Buster Crabbe pools. That's when I knew I had a problem. The...

Buster Crabbe Liner Replacement - Columbus Ohio

I have a Buster Crabbe pool that was installed in the late 80s. I have a tear in the liner, so I figured it was time to replace it. No one wants to replace the liner, because it's an overlap, not a bead. I have one company that said they would install a track on it so that it would be a bead...

    Really high ammonia

Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll have to pick up a sock or some DE. Yes, I’ve read that it can take up to a week to filter all of the algae out. The good news is it’s only been dropping about 1.5-2 FC every 8 hours and CC has been around 0.5. It’s going to be chilly here for the next week so...

    Really high ammonia

It was 10 this morning at 7am, so only a 2 FC drop from 12! There’s was barely any CC, it was a faint pink after the 5 drops of reagent, so I counted it as 0.5. It’s much better! Still about the same clarity, but I think it can take a while for the sand filter remove all of the dead algae.

Update at 8:45pm: 10.5 FC 0.5 CC 80 TA 6.7-8 pH It only dropped 1.5 FC between 5pm and 8:45pm! Excited to see what it does overnight.

    Ammonia pH and FC fun

Yes, I agree with @ajw22. If you had ammonia you are past it.

    Ammonia pH and FC fun

I am working through ammonia troubles just like what you're describing: Add chlorine to SLAM level and 30 minutes later almost nothing. My CYA was also 0. Bacteria eats the CYA and ammonia is the byproduct. It took LOTS of chlorine to get it under control. I was seeing FC of 0.5-1 and CC in...

    Really high ammonia

Latest update: 4:00pm: 8 FC 0.5 CC - added 115 ounces of 10% liquid chlorine to target 12 FC. 5:00pm: 12 FC 0.5 CC 🙌 I added 53 oz of baking soda, that should raise it to 80 ppm TA. I will check again and likely add more but I'd rather not overshoot it. My CYA socks are taking...

    Really high ammonia

I think it looks about the same. I can barely make out the bottom step, which is what it looked like yesterday too. Yesterday was pretty sunny, and today is a little overcast, maybe that explains the difference you're seeing in the pictures. Would you recommend raising the TA with soda ash or...

    Really high ammonia

2:00 pm levels: FC: 4.5 CC: 0.5 pH: less than 6.8, I would guess 6.5-6.6 TA: 70 CYA: 0 I just put in: 216 ounces of 10% liquid chlorine to target 12 FC. 5lb 10 oz CYA: Thank you! That makes sense, I dialed it back to target 12 FC on this dose. The aftermath (I need to get these helicopters...
