    New PoolMath coming

Noted. Thank you. I will look at the smaller adjustments moving forward.

    New PoolMath coming

I'm pretty sure at least the pH adjustment recommendations are still off. I'm the first build, recommendations were way too low. Now it looks like recommendations are way too high. From within the pH screen, the app said it would take 85oz of 31° acid to bring me down from 8 to 7.3. in the...

    New PoolMath coming

Having strange issue in the new app where it's giving me very low recommendations for adjusting pH. Current pH: 7.9 TA: 70 Borates: 48 (in the pH screen, it keeps resetting my borates to 70 even though it shows that I last recorded it at 48 so I have to manually change borates back to 48)...

    Managing CSI with TA, CH

Ok. How bad is it that with low temps my CSI was between -.8 and -.5 for a few months?

    Managing CSI with TA, CH

Hello braintrust, I'm close to opening the pool for the season and my chemistry is nearly perfect except my CSI is lower than I'd like and maybe I need a reality check from someone more experienced. FC - 4.5 pH - 7.7 TA - 60 CH - 275 CYA - 60 Salt - 3000 Borates - 48 Temp - 71° CSI - (-.57)...

    Gratitude to TFP

I don't know who exactly to thank. Maybe all of TFP? A pool man that I really liked quit on me last summer due to health issues. He was a good one. Rather than trying to find another honest pool guy, I picked up the mantle of pool steward with the help of TFP. Not only is my pool cleaner than...

Check valve needed for intellichlor ic60?

I wish I'd known this prior to installing everything. I do have to run my pump at a higher rpm than expected to get the swg on. Maybe I'll get one installed soon. I think I'm going to replace my old dump valve with a multiport so maybe I'll do it then.

Check valve needed for intellichlor ic60?

Thank you for that. I'll check the manual. Though I'm likely past warranty for both my heaters at this point anyway.

    Lowering TA before adding borates

Thank you. I may go more judo as you've suggested and let the pH sit closer to where it wants. I've been micromanaging everything and I know that's not sustainable in the long run. I'm hoping borates let me add acid less frequently, at least. Do you get itchy skin with your pH that high?

    Lowering TA before adding borates

Thank you. Btw, you have a 66,000 gallon pool?! Majestic. Must also keep you busy!

    Lowering TA before adding borates

Hey TFP, I'm in the process of lowering my TA so that I can add borates (as boric acid) to hopefully slow my pH rise. I've gone through two cycles of adding enough muriatic acid to bring the pH down to ~7.0 and then waiting for aeration via my swcg + spillway to bring the pH back up. I've...

Add calcium or let it be?

Wow. Thank you for all the info. I had some misconceptions. I may just plumb one in.

Add calcium or let it be?

Thanks. Yeah I could do that. I had held off in the past because my pool wasn't a saltwater pool but now that it is, I guess that's back on the table! I can fairly easily plumb in a budget model softener. If I did that, it would control CH but wouldn't that then keep my salt level steadily going...

Add calcium or let it be?

Hey guys, my water parameters are all looking pretty solid except I'm wondering about calcium: FC: 5 CC: 0 pH: 7.6 TA: 70 CH: 300 or 325 depending on how accurate I'm being (I think) CYA: 70 Salt: 3400 CSI: -.32 I was thinking of adding enough calcium chloride to get to 425 because pool math...
