if you dont have a rope that seperated the deep and shallow end then what i do is put it in like a sock or something of that nature and put it inside the skimmer basket and it dissolves great.

CYA does suck at getting dissolved so what i did was take an extra net that goes to my leaf vac and i pour the stabilizer in it and then set that in the skimmer in the basket. it works much better than putting it in the pool and having it not go away.

i can help too much seeing as i myself just started getting a hold of this whole pool thing. but i can tell you one thing you have to have is PATIENCE because thats one thing i realized when i opened my pool this year. i can tell you that you came to the right place my pool is on the BBB method...

one thing i have noticed about buying products is that they do tend to advertise another product that the company may make. i would say that it doesnt matter what brand it is personally i have used multiple brands and havent noticed a difference in what the outcome is.

thanks everyone for your help and a special thanks to duraleigh as he walked me through the process. my pool is now dedicated to the BBB method. the water is looking really good i just need to vac out whats left of the dirt at the bottom.

shorelover i would come on here before i listen to the guys at the pool store because half of them i talk to seem to know less than i do which is pretty funny. i have DE on hand but never used it yet. im sure you will get great advice from one of the experts on here.

ok i shocked it both yesterday and today and the water is lookin way better than it did now what do i do from here?

how do i get my FC up?

i purchased this little computer reader that uses test strips that could be the reason why. i added the reccommended amount from the test results at the store which i believe was about 2 pounds

so far the water looks like a grayish green i added some copper based alge killer today and scrubbed it and the water levels are as follows Free Chlorine-12 pH-8.4 Alkalinity-160 CYA-100

ok so first i had a little help from the leaf vac just to get all of the organic junk that was still at the bottom and that worked really well then i shocked it but before i did that i tested the water. free chlorine- 5 pH-7.2 Alkalinity- 170 CYA-110
