    Autofill Valve Cavity

We haven't used our autofill valve since we have been investigating a possible leak. We have fixed the the leak and now want to use the autofill while on a trip. We opened the lid to the valve cavity and were surprised by the nastiness of the water. We drained the cavity and noted the clay like...

    Freeze protection and heating spa

Can someone help me with my dilemma? I have a Pentair Intelliflo pump (as well as a cleaner booster pump) that feeds my pool/spa combo. The freeze protection (to protect the pump) kicks on at 35 degrees Fahrenheit. That sends water through the system (including through a spa return that spills...

North Dallas 39.5 - the Big Dig starts

Sure, I actually went with a pool builder from Rockwall - Hopkins Custom Pools. They quoted 4-6 weeks and it took about 5 1/2. We only missed about 4 or 5 workdays due to weather and they didn't work on any weekends that I recall. 30 days seems reasonable this time of year but only if you...

Thanks. We had a dickens of a time picking our plaster color. Finally went with Quartzbrite Midnight Blue. Full sun is my favorite look.

Well. Here's the finished product. We still need to do some landscaping, put up a pergola and fix a few pool issues. But we love our new oasis. We've been enjoying spa until summer gets here.

North Dallas 39.5 - the Big Dig starts

Leak guys said skimmer pressure wouldn't hold and they heard gurgling sounds in skimmer line. We're having some low water pressure issues as well and pump basket won't stay full, bubbler pressure is low and spillway flow is small. PB is coming tomorrow to try to figure out. But he said an inch...

North Dallas 39.5 - the Big Dig starts

Well. It's been a while since I've posted. I've been finishing up the pool. The pool and spa came out great. But we, like everyone it seems, have some issues. One issue is white streaks caused by heavy rain after plastering but before (and during) acid washing. The second one is a leak...

Decking was poured two days ago. Sprinkler system repair and yard clean up was yesterday. Sod and fence re-install coming in Monday. Pre-plaster inspection Tuesday and plaster Wednesday-Friday. Should have water by next week around this time - knock on wood.

    Quartzscapes St. Martin Shade

Does anyone anywhere have the St. Martin Shade Quartz plaster finish? If so could you post a picture for me to see? Did it come out like you hoped? Thanks

    Quartzscapes St. Martin Shade

I'm planning on going with St. Martin Shade for my pool finish. Does anyone in the Dallas area have that finish in their pool? Just hoping to get one more warm fuzzy about the color before it's too late. Thanks

North Dallas 39.5 - the Big Dig starts

Thanks for the heads up Zethacat. I'll watch out for that. I appreciate the compliments everyone. I must admit I'm pretty nervous as this project unfolds. Wondering what the next issue will be. Actually. Here it is. Electrician put my screenLogic exterior antenna (and beautiful gray...

Thanks! The stone on the spa and raised beam is chopped Oklahoma flagstone in a random pattern. The tile is Panaria D Mansion - Rich. We had them replace a couple triangle coping pieces as there were an excessive amount of triangles down the side of the pool.

Day 9 - just about finished with the stonework. Should finish tomorrow. Electrician will be here tomorrow with gas/electric inspection Friday. Decking starts next week. Seems like a pretty good pace. Must be the time of year.
