Re: Owner Build W/ Rock Blasting - Loomis, CA After more than 18 inches of rain since January 1st we are finally starting to see some progress (and the sun). We installed the slide, still need to do some grading and final plumbing to it. Next up is some additional concrete work, final...

Owner Build W/ Rock Blasting - Loomis, CA - Equipment List HELP

Point understood, very good insight and you have a lot more knowledge on this than I do, thank you for responding. I completely agree that the plaster was compromised in the torched areas and will need to be replaced but was hoping the Gunite was not weakened.

Owner Build W/ Rock Blasting - Loomis, CA - Equipment List HELP

Great feedback so far, thank you. I will discuss adding the walls as part of the replacement. I might even be willing to pay some to cover the walls if it means a consistent and better product in the end. As far as torching, they seemed to use it limited and more to dry the plaster vs. stop...

I don't have it in writing but have spoken with the plaster company and have confirmed the plan. (I will also ask for it in writing) The plan is to re-plaster the bottom of the pool is the spring/early summer. Has anyone re-plastered the bottom only before, leaving the sides alone? It is my...

Northern California has been hit with a ton of rain lately causing our plaster to be delayed until this past weekend. We were excited to keep the project moving forward, unfortunately everything didn't go as planned! We decided to us Quartzscapes: - Barbados for the pool and spa (spa has...

Owner Build W/ Rock Blasting - Loomis, CA - Equipment List HELP

Happy Thanksgiving all! With the Holiday and family coming into town we didn't get the equipment ordered last week, I figured we could wait a week to see what Holiday sales we could take advantage of. The 3hp will be for the slide only. Below is a revised equipment list showing separate pumps...

Owner Build W/ Rock Blasting - Loomis, CA - Equipment List HELP

I haven't estimated the total energy usage for the pool. I originally wasn't too concerned with it because we over-sized our PV solar system when we installed it to accommodate for a pool. Last year we over produced and our electricity bill was $0 for the year. This year we are likely going...

Owner Build W/ Rock Blasting - Loomis, CA - Equipment List HELP

I spoke with Paradise Slides and they do recommend 200gpm but also said they believe installers typically use a 3hp pump. I also checked with Dolphin slides (similar style water slide manufacturer) and they recommend 125-150gpm. It looks like the Pentair WhisperfloXF 3hp (model 022018) can...

Owner Build W/ Rock Blasting - Loomis, CA - Equipment List HELP

Our water slide is almost 39' long and requires higher flow than a standard slide. I double checked and the plans call for 200 gpm with a 3 or 4" line feeding the slide. The slide has two 3" outlets at the top. I have sent the manufacturer (Paradise Water Slides) an email to check what the...

Thanks for all the kind words! We cannot wait for it to be complete. The pool is roughly 37,000 gal with an 800 gal spa, the spa has 6 jets. Currently the plan is as follows: - 3hp pump for the pool and waterslide, the slide has a 3" pipe feeding it and the manufacturer recommends 200gpm. -...

Owner Build W/ Rock Blasting - Loomis, CA - Equipment List HELP

Re: New Owner Build Pool with Rock Blasting - Loomis, CA We are now realizing why people say owner builds take so long. Trying to juggle work along with this project is making progress very slow. Not sure we are going to be as far along by Thanksgiving as we wanted to be but we are making...
