Water Balance for new plaster pool during the winter

And as the water gets colder, will I need to balance pool based on the CSI or just keep it balanced as normal?

Water Balance for new plaster pool during the winter

Thanks. I have a timer on the pump and when it stays cold will on set it to run at night and kick on when temp is below 40. The water doesn't flow much in the two skimmers farthest from the pump, but I think I'll just leave them open. Not sure about the frost level, but it is very rocky...

Water Balance for new plaster pool during the winter

Is there anything different I need to do or be aware of this winter in regards to water balance and care of a new diamond brite plastered pool? I will be keeping my pump continuously most of the winter. I do have a freeze protection system set up too. I will not be covering it and was wanting...

Ok. So can I maintain the TA at 110 when I stop using trichlor or do I need to allow it to go down some as I add acid to maintain pH?

Ok great. I'll be switching to liquid bleach in the next few days and shutting off my chlorinator. I am currently raising my CYA to 30 or so. Ive already added some stabilizer the other day, but gonna use up the last 5 or 6 trichlor pucks first which will raise CYA to about where I want it...

I thought borates helped keep pH and alkalinity changes at a minimum and also made the water feel better and look clearer. I used borates before and it made a difference. But I've never had a fountain before, so wasn't sure if this would have a significant factor on pH and TA and if the...

Thanks for the welcome. Minus getting the plaster dust out of the pool, I believe I have the pool ready for the kids to swim. Once I get my CYA level to 30ppm, I will be switching to great value brand or Clorox brand bleach for my sanitizer. I haven't added borates yet but will do that once...

Hello again, Just wanted to say hello to everyone again and update everyone with my new pool renovation that was just completed. I have a few questions and hope to get some great input as I have in the past. About four years ago I had a horrible pool guy to a re-plaster and paint job on the...

    Chlorine Loss

Thank you very much. I will shoot for an additional 15ppm. And test again in about a week.

    Chlorine Loss

I finally have my pool balanced and clear. The only piece of the puzzle I am missing is the correct CYA number. A few days ago I put in approximately 4 lbs of stabilizer. I put it in the skimmer, but ended up backwashing for a few minutes the next day. My CYA registered 0 when I tested it...

Second test numbers after adding chemicals

I went and rechecked later and it is steady on 16 after a good back wash. So I suppose I'll use this number as my starting point and when it starts to rise backwash again. And the needle did go to 0 when pump is off. Thanks very much. Al
