In ground pool equipment for above ground pool?

Hi MK, Thanks for the quick response! I was trying to come up with an explanation as to why the water isn't clear yet (sand washed out of the filter because of the force of the back wash), but I guess I will have to accept the much more likely answer that it probably (I loaned out my...

In ground pool equipment for above ground pool?

Hi All, We have an Intex Ultra Frame pool on our backyard. We used to live at a house with an in ground pool, and I had replaced the original Pacfab sand filter but still had it, as well as a Hayward Superflow pump. A also had the multiport valve, and 2 years ago plumbed the Intex with the...

    Simplified plumbing answer for panels

Hi Mas, Thanks — that is great info! I didn’t mention before that the plumbing is mainly 1-1/2” pvc, but it sounds like the main issue is the path the water has to take. I will re-arrange the panels so that there is a “bigger” entry and exit for the water. Thanks Again!

    Simplified plumbing answer for panels

Hi All, I am hoping to get a “caveman” understanding of the plumbing system for our pool, so I can correctly connect the passive solar heating panels that I have. Here are the details... 32 by 16 (by 52”) above ground Intex pool, installed on a leveled area on a slope/stepped site. The...

    Dumb Mistake with skimmer assembly

Hi Duck, Thanks very much for your reply. I think that your suggestion sounds the most likely to work. I don't have a ton of confidence in my ability to patch even a hole the size of the inlet... I am sure that plenty of people have done so, I just have more faith in the idea of adding a...

    Dumb Mistake with skimmer assembly

Hi Mulia, Thanks for the reply! I will find the original piece that was cut for the skimmer (I think I held onto it). I'm assuming that I should use a larger piece of vinyl and cover the back... Thanks, David

    Dumb Mistake with skimmer assembly

Hi All, I made a major mistake when I installed our Hayward above ground skimmer basket. I did not pay close enough attention to where the hole/assembly should be, and installed it about 1.5 inches lower than I should have. I compounded that mistake by installing the inlet at the correct...

    Second pump?

Hi Cowboy, It sure looks like it will do the trick... now I need to search around to see if I can find one for a bit lower price :). I realize that the pump will pay for itself many times over. It just comes with a fairly hefty initial investment... Thanks, David

    Second pump?

Hi Cowboy, Thanks for the reply! If I get the VSF, is there a certain HP rating or other specs I should look for -- or is that the very nature of the variable speed pump? And (sorry to be so clueless about this) do those pumps "sense" the increased pressure and respond, or is it a manual...

    Second pump?

Hi All, I recently added solar water heating panels to our above ground system. The pool is set up in such a way that the vertical distance between the pump/filter and the panels is nearly 11 feet. Without the panels in the circuit, water flows from the return at a strong rate. With...

    How bad is this brace?

Hi PD, All, The pool is up and has been battle tested by the kids. No issues so far. I did put a press-type plywood sandwich around the corner of the semi-crunched brace, just to be on the cautious side. I will continue to search for a replacement support. Perhaps my luck will be...
