Change mind on tile. Still doing mini pebble-Aqua blue with abolone shell.

That could be a fun one to work with! I would make sure to lay them all out to make sure the colors blend. There was one build where they put all of the lighter ones together and all of the darker ones together :( The colors need to be mixed up to look great!

What made you change your mind? (I LOVE knowing how and why people think)

Hahahaha....nice shot of your equipment pad over by your neighbor's house (second photo, background)....he's gonna love you when the pumps are running full-bore ;)

Nice gunite shell...now, as Kim said, get out there with the hoses and keep it washed down. You can dream about swimming it while you keep the concrete wet :D

Yeah my neighbor and I will have dueling pool pumps! Although mine will be nearly silent when compared to his 15 year old pump and sand filter. His equipment is right on the other side of the wall! We are building a pony wall so it won't be visible once everything is done.

Good idea! Be sure to leave yourself lots of room to get around the equipment when you wall it in. The biggest mistake I see with equipment pads is that they are treated as an after-thought and equipment often gets placed in the funkiest arrangements. You want to make sure you follow the installation guidelines in the user manuals so that equipment has good access points and it's easy to do thing like filter maintenance.

I once saw a colleagues pool setup. All the equipment was in the other side of the backyard wall and fully enclosed in its own walled area but no one put a gate access to the equipment pad area from the backyard. So the only access point required that you go out the front door, walk around the back of the property and access the equipment area from the back property (desert scrub brush, etc). It was just dumb.

What kind of filter? If it's DE or cartridge, then you will need enough room around the piping to give yourself a good standing position while you lift (the often awkward and heavy) top cover of the filter. It's stuff like that (*cough* my equipment pad *cough* *cough*) that happens when things are not planned out properly ;)

Great filter choice!!

Now download the installation guide and check it out. The lid for that is big so you're going to need good standing room for proper posture and reduced risk of back injury when lifting the lid off. It's not horribly heavy but it's always a good idea to give yourself lots of clearance.
