Yet another Texas pool build!

My first thought with the shot taken from above is, "The Great Wall of China". I know it only looks that way now, because it's not filled in on either side.

This is an amazing project! You do know it's going to be spectacular, right?!! It's so big you need a drone to get it all in one shot. I think it was MartinKennedy's build where I first heard of using a drone to document his build. And a few months ago I heard a builder in our area had used a drone to show one of his builds. Tell your girlfriend that's how they can really cement getting the mega $$ pools. And let your pool be his practice one using a drone!!

I gotta say, the suspense and excitement for your pool is really growing!

Suz.

Might be a good thing.
It means the grass will be easier to trim up to edge.
Grass will not be able to intrude or come up between pavers.
I like it.

That is true! I didn't think about that aspect of it.

haha I don't feel like it is that big. Frankly your pool is way bigger than mine. I think it is because it goes lengthwise in my yard that makes it look so big. I actually am getting used to the idea of the wall caps framing the deck. I think it will give it a finished look instead of the pavers going to the edge of grass.

I can't even imagine how much over budget my pool is. I haven't had any paid upgrades since the auto fill fiasco. All this wall is probably a small fortune. Only the right side wall and the large one around the far end deck were in the original design.

Is the deck square footage still correct in your signature? It looks larger than that, but I've never been good at estimating square footage.

I definitely love the cap stones for the deck perimeter.
Suz.

I don't think it has grown too much from the design. Maybe 40 sq ft from moving the left edge so it goes around the skimmer. But the sq footage included the walkway so who knows? I don't have a good way to figure it out either :) I know it is about 30' wide. I need to measure how far it is from the pool to the house.

You should charge an entrance fee. It's like the Museum of Fine Paver Stones!

haha so funny!! If they keep using them the demand will probably die off. I think they said I'll be their first pool with Luminous and with Blue Smurf. We'll probably get more people coming by. Maybe I can get them to bring me pool warming gifts like bottles of MA etc...

"Sure they can come and look if you throw in sealer on my payers 'cause that really makes em pop."

haha True!

Man, you weren't kidding about all of the retaining walls huh???

looks very cool though

Nope and the funny thing is there was only 2 on the original design. That number has grown to 4 now. I am still wondering how many more will pop up.

You're pool is going to be so fantabulous!! Can't wait to see it finished! (Bet you can't either, huh?)

Me too!!! Believe me. I think the neighbors are on the end of their patience with all the mess. We live in a cul-de-sac and the street is always a big huge mess. Right now there are large piles of sand in the cul-de-sac and I think the neighbors will be ganging up on us soon.

The new crew has been great but the problem now is the PB can't figure out how much supplies to purchase. I am a wee bit frustrated with it but hopefully this is the end of this problem. When we changed the design to use all pavers instead of concrete/pavers the PB was supposed to order more materials. He ordered 3 more pallets of block for the retaining walls and some of the new style pavers for the steps and walk way. But for some reason didn't order any more of the stone looking pavers. He ordered that later. So last week the wall block and the other style pavers showed up but not the stone style and I asked him. He said it was ordered later. Well in one day they used up all of the 3 pallets of wall pavers and still aren't done and those took FOREVER to get. So now we are back at waiting for materials because there isn't enough block to finish the walls and there isn't any stone style pavers to finish the deck. I guess they could work on the walkway and other steps but I don't know if they can do that until more wall blocks show up.

I am ready to be done and I am guessing this will delay at least another week. I'll call my PB this morning to see what is up. At this point the amount of materials isn't correctly calculated so they are winging it I think. The end result is coming out great but it is causing delays again. Hopefully after some more wall block and pavers show up we can get to the landscaping phase.

Oh and as a side note we had a great Labor day! I hope everyone else had a great day. I smoked some ribs on my green egg and they came out super delicious.

We also spent some time at our neighborhood pool and the water looked so gross!!! It was cloudy and had a slight green tinge. I took some samples and tested it and the pH was 7.2 and the chlorine was maxing out my little chlorine tester (I didn't do the drop chlorine test). I am guessing algae bloom but if the FC was over 5 how does that happen?

Darn, and double darn! Hopefully the materials will come in and they can get it DONE!

For the neighbors pool. My guess is they are about to have a swamp and dumped in a lot of chlorine just for the party. You might want to show them TFP and talk about how to get it clear with a SLAM.

Just think------------one day you will be able to swim in YOUR pool that will sparkle like a jewel!

Kim

I know I know I am excited just seems like it is taking forever!

I have a question...

My FIL when he found out I was getting a cartridge system said I would be sorry I didn't go with sand. He wouldn't give me more info. Why would I be sorry I went with the cartridge? He told me my BIL in California switched from cartridge to sand because they are a pain.

Can be a pain if they are too small (they need rinsed out too frequently) or if you have an algae bloom (they trap the sediment, can't be backwashed, and need rinsing frequently). Otherwise, no real worries. As is often the case, the reasons behind resistance of things can be telling.
