Yet another Texas pool build!

Umm, when you get a chance post on this thread the reason for your picture. People need the background story!
Suz.

Ok...

I posted the selfie here because of the comment I made on Fordracing's pool build thread...

I like the 15 foot selfie! I have tried to take a couple selfies but my face doesn't lend itself to selfies well. My wife says "stop making that face when you take selfies". I don't know how to stop making that face so I stopped taking selfies. I think the face comes from trying to concentrate on the phone, smile, and take a picture at the same time. If I take a selfie it has to have my wife in it so she can control the camera because if I control it she'll tell me "stop making that face".

Ahhhh!
So that's an example of 'Selfie Face'
I'll file that with 'Cell Phone' voice; that habit people have of talking very loudly when on their cell. Sometimes refereed to a Ron Burgundy voice.

Are you going to post a picture of them wet????? Nooooooo just joshin' ya'.

They look MUCH different. They don't even look like the same pavers. I can tell a HUGE difference! Are you sure these are YOUR pavers? Right, so VERY different.

Below is NOT for Umm's eyes:

(shhhhhhh, don't tell Umm I said this, but isn't it just like a proud new parent to see something different that looks the same to everyone else? That's so cute! First a girlfriend, now a new baby. Awwwwwww)

I really did not think I could like them any more BUT..............I was wrong! Look at the colors pop! WOW!

Kim

Ok, my bad..... Old lady eyes strike me down again. I compared and compared - just don't see the difference. I had just finished posting on another thread that I should pull out my super duper strong readers. I was halfway kidding. But.... I guess it's time to get stronger ones!!!!

Suz.
(laughing at myself, cuz the joke's on me!)

Wet Look 2000 is a lacquer sealer that gives the wet look to such things.

We had our whole backyard (stamped, colored concrete) sealed with it and love the look.

Take a look at it...pricey stuff but seems to be good.

It almost looks like the surface of another planet.
Another planet will a cool pool.

Suz you are so funny! I was cracking up reading your first post. I realized after looking at the photo that they don't look that different! I can imagine I am overly excited like a new parent. They have more tan in them now that they are wet. I really like them but thought they looked a bit grey but now that I saw them wet I like them even more.

I really did not think I could like them any more BUT..............I was wrong! Look at the colors pop! WOW!

Yep they really pop. They have way more variation than I was expecting. I am guessing once the polymeric sand is applied they won't pop as much but I could be wrong. I actually saw a deck at a stone yard with the same pavers (color too) and they looked way more tan to me. I like mine a little better (probably for the first baby reason Suz gave).

Thanks for that! I have some samples of sealer the stone yard gave me. I plan on putting a little of each kind on some left over pavers to see what one I like the most. I have natural, satin, and glossy.

you KNOW you HAVE to show US so WE can pick which one you use on YOUR pool! LOL

I am sure the sand will have a slight impact BUT once it is rinsed in/off they will be back to showing the colors!

Kim

haha sure.

Turns out I am not the only one on here with these pavers. Someone else refurbed their pool with the exact pavers I have.

C'mon!!! You know deep down inside that yours look much better!!!! (the whole 'my baby is prettier than your baby' thing)

I think you'll be happy how they look after the polymeric sand is added. To me, it made the pavers all seem more connected. It didn't change the colors or the beautiful patterns at all. They just looked less dis-jointed, and I didn't realize they had looked that way until after the sand filled in the seams.

Haha you are on a roll!

I am excited to see it with sand. What I don't know is when is the proper time to sand and seal? I have to worry about Efforlecense (I know I purposely misspelled that word).

The pavers look really cool! It does look like a lot of work though.

Thanks! Yes it is a ton of labor. Since they are not rectangular and my pool has sweeping curves it takes awhile for them to cut all the stones to fit. They are doing a great job so far.

UPDATE: So anyway finally yesterday afternoon more supplies showed up. Of course now we have to see when the crew can come back out because they were moved to another job. Story of my life haha. Someone was out yesterday for some reason and I think they wanted the bobcat that has been sitting on the side of my house for another job. Well it slipped in the mud from the rain we got Tuesday and hit our fence. (Suz remember my pretty pavers that look the same????) They told my wife and the neighbor and said they would fix it. At least they told us.

Oh, I misunderstood - thank goodness! In all seriousness though, I know the rain or just getting wet from the hose makes the pavers really pop. My deck pavers just look amazing after they're wet. I'm still deciding when and how I'm going to seal them, but not all sealers give the wet look. And I don't want them to be slippery!

I was just kidding you about your wet paver pictures, because on my monitors, your before and after pictures looked the same. But I think we've all agreed, Suz needs stronger glasses!! Lol!!!

I think if you wanted you could get some sample sized sealer and seal three different kinds to see what you like best. That is what I am planning on doing. That way I can tell before I apply it to the entire thing.

So yesterday they started working again. They got some more wall built. Frankly I wasn't expecting the wall along the pathway so I am not sure what that is about. I'll have to talk to my girlfriend. I was hoping they would build up the turf to be level with the walkway. Not that this is a bad thing I just don't know what to think about it.

Might be a good thing.
It means the grass will be easier to trim up to edge.
Grass will not be able to intrude or come up between pavers.
I like it.
