Yet another Texas pool build!

BUT Dad it is NEW and I MUST sit on NEW!!!!!!!!!! At least that is how it is at my house. Try putting some of the cardboard down and see is he will take to that instead.

Kim

I'll have to try that but both cats love cushions so I'll probably just have to put it away so he'll go lay on the other cushions.

He's a beauty! Gorgeous coloring and what a handsome poser for the camera!! How can you make him leave when the cushion color is so perfect for him?!!

Any meetings today regarding pool things?
Suz.

He is probably the most beautiful cat we have ever owned but I think he knows it because he is a pain in the rear let me tell you! He is very territorial and torments the other pets in the house. Our other two pets are very old. Our dog is 12 going on 13 and just is the sweetest thing. Our other cat is almost 14 and she just keeps to herself but really likes being on my lap when I sit down. She is a talker and my daughter's cat will pick on her and she squawks like crazy which I think is a game to him. She looks irritated all the time but is very sweet with the kids and wouldn't hurt a fly.

Here is our dog Rambo:

Here is our other cat Sprinkles and me:

So off the topic of pets and back to the topic of pools.

I spoke with my girlfriend this morning. They are getting moving on the rest of my job. They are there at my house shooting elevations. He thinks it will be 2 to 3 weeks of work on all the pavers/walls and then we'll be doing landscaping and then finish! I am thinking still one more month. He told me they are completely ripping out the existing walls that are built because they are at the wrong elevation. I guess they wouldn't have lined up with the coping causing issues. Anyway I am excited to get this stuff underway. Tomorrow he is going over the new plan with me (which should match what I drew earlier) and going over what other pavers/etc... we need so we can order everything to finish up.

I think we are now on our way hopefully.

I love, love, love the pet pictures! I am always entertained by pet photos!

I had to laugh at Rambo's picture. He's adorable, but not quite what I expected with the name 'Rambo'!!! And in the next picture, I'm not sure who the real cutie is, You or Sprinkles! Umm, you should have been wearing a matching boa and crown - that would have gone viral!!!

CUTENESS OVERLOAD! LOL

SO happy to hear they are starting all over on the wall. I was worried about the safety of it!

So the story with Rambo's name is my wife first picked out sprinkles when we first got married. She named her sprinkles after her favorite donut. Then after getting sprinkles we decided to get a dog and I have always grew up with small dogs and he was so cute we just had to get him. He is a Pekingese/Poodle mix. Anyway everyone kept telling me that I needed to name him fuffy or something along those lines and I said "NO! He is going to have a manly name!" That is when I came up with Rambo. One year we dressed him up in camo, a red scarf, and we made him a mini sash of bullets to wear for Halloween. Can we say people who needed to have babies because we overly obsessed over our pets.

So an update (sorry no photos). The new crew for doing my walls is amazing! They arrive just before 8 and have been working all day for 2 days! Compared to the other crew that would show up late, leave early, and not show the next day. Plus they are much more efficient and know what they are doing. They got so much done yesterday they are running out of materials. So my girlfriend had to run to the office to order more pavers/wall/etc... I can tell just looking at the walls they know what they are doing because they actually have every other stone turned the other direction so they lock together. Something the previous sub didn't know to do. It all makes sense now.

Anyway I am thrilled and I think at this pace we'll have our walls/decks/stairs/paths done in a couple weeks. Then landscaping, electric, and finish and we are done! I am so thrilled! I'll try to get photos tomorrow.

That is so awesome to hear! So glad the PB did the right thing and got you a better crew! Our first fence builder the PB contracted was terrible.. didnt measure anything.. all the poles were short. Thought husband was going to blow a gasket measuring everything every day behind them.. so aggravating! The difference with the new crew was like night and day.. so glad that's happening for you too!

Great job of hanging in there too and getting things the way you want! You will be so glad you did these things for years to come. One thing I read here was "..one day when you are relaxing with a drink in your pool..this will all be just a story.." I couldn't imagine at the time that that could ever be true but I so hoped it was that I just kept telling myself that and OMG one day it really was true!

Its the things like that you get from this site that .. well.. just keep your sanity and keep ya going.. to GET to that Someday. Those of us that made it to "just a story" now are here cheerin ya all the way to the finish line! Cant Wait!!

Good you are moving forward again and are excited! Hope the momentum continues. If I remember right you have a birthday party in Mid September, Hope they can make it.

We have given up on the bday party. It was really causing my wife extra stress and causing a lot of angst with the girlfriend because she was going off on him daily with the subs. It did cause us to get in a state where we realized that the work was being done wrong and we had to do something about it. Our daughter is going to be 12 and she really is into the more social stuff now so she is happy with having a sleep over with 2 of her close friends (I learned the hard way to limit sleep overs to only 2 girls or I will go clinically insane). So we are taking them out to her favorite restaurant and then doing a little something at the house. I told my wife if the pool is done by the time she has her sleep over then they can swim or otherwise no loss no foul. This decision really allowed us to stop being stressed and just let the PB take their time (within reason) so we get the best quality outcome possible. Honestly I think our builder will be a super high end builder because they don't know how to do stuff half way. All the employees really know their stuff and have worked for top tier pool builders on the west coast. They are just having issues with the subs but that is now resolved hopefully.

Progress for sure! AND it looks nice?????? OH yeah!

Kim

So far. For example the one wall that had the gaps that I was complaining about facing the wrong side was the perfect example. Turns out there are supposed to be no gaps on either side. The blocks are trapezoid shaped and they placed the shorter side always on one side of the wall for every block. Turns out you are supposed to alternate the blocks so the sides go short/long/short/long. This causes them to lock together so a block is wedged in by the blocks next to it. It makes perfect sense but I didn't realize it until I saw it done properly.

Oh happy day, Ummm! Glad things are so much better!

Thanks me too!

I am so glad to hear that things are headed in the right direction! Happy for you!!

Thank you!

Heck yeah!

That is how the girlfriend is acting right now! He is so excited with the new subs. I can tell in his voice when I talk to him.

Thanks! I totally know what your husband went through!

So happy things are looking up for yall!! Can't wait to see the pics!

I'll try to get some new pictures tonight. They really have done quite a bit. Probably doesn't look like much but they had to tear everything out and start over again with the walls.

I'm waiting to see sparkly Smurf blue!

Me too! The problem is that is the last part and it is so hard to wait!

On another note the waterline tiles on our pool are slowly falling off. The bad tile guy put up the water line tile and the stone raised bond beam. The stone was so bad they already came out and replaced it. We just didn't realize that the waterline tile was bad too and now it looks like that will need to have to be removed and redone.
