What did you do to your pool today?

Settle down now Kimmy, just wanted to look at it :shark: backing away, backing away, backi...

Installed a 50' privacy screen to the wrought iron fence so my GF fells a bit more secure. I think it's a bit too restrictive as I wanted something that let a little more air through but I'll see how it holds up through a few good storms. Plan to take it down each winter. The tie wraps are cheep enough.

Came home and the pool wasn't running. Either a power outage or the roofers tripped the circuit somehow. FC was down to 4.5. Reset breaker, immediately dumped in a 3/4 gallon of bleach, restarted the pool (and therefore SWG) and got things back in order. Not sure how long it was sitting without power, but it had to be a while to be down to 4.5.

Today, the wonderful Man Child added the "liquid chlorine" to the pool as he was asked to do.

.....except it was MA instead. pH is "6.8".....hopefully.

innocent mistake and i'm just thankful to know how to fix it. even if I am fixing it after work at 1 a.m.

OUCH! BUT at least you know how to fix it!

Now for your safety lesson. MA and bleach do NOT play well together they should not even be in the same room (if it is a small room) MA can cause some problems if it is kept in a small, closed area. It can cause rust on metals. It has to have room to breath. Look real close at where your MA is living and think about moving it somewhere else. That will keep the mix up from happening again and keep things safe.

LOL...I wish it were that simple, Kim. The MA lives in it's own plastic tote with a lid on the other side of a 2 car garage for those reasons. He simply overlooked the one jug of liquid chlorine left and remembered he had seen "another jug" in the tote. When he told me, my initial reaction was ----> He knows the pool is my other child and felt badly for the mistake. I just had to remind him (and myself as well, I suppose) that as much as I like the pool, I love him and appreciate his efforts at helping out. It was easily corrected with a midnight Kroger trip for borax and baking soda (and frozen pizza with extra cheese that we fixed upon return and laughed and laughed until 3 a.m.). Tests are perfect this moring!

Re-synchronized my Hayward Color Logic LED's. The were in sync for two years until this spring. Hadn't bothered with fixing them until now. Turn on, turn off, turn on between 11 and 14 seconds later. Voila. Actually it seemed to need more like 13+ seconds because it didn't work the first few times from 11-13 seconds. Another item off the to-do list.

Brushed, vacuumed, bleached and admired a gin-clear pool all before breakfast.
Work almost done for the day, looking forward to some swim-jet action to clear the day's stresses.

Officially swam, and floated around on a float, in my pool yesterday for the 1st time in over 3 years. (How exciting is that? :)). Hubby had planned to join me for our "anniversary swim," but he wasn't feeling well, so I went it alone. LOL I did pay dearly this morning for my swim yesterday, as I was so sore I couldn't hardly get out of the bed, but it was so worth it.

Today the pool got brushed, checked FC level, added a little chlorine, and admired my beautiful crystal clear pool that is still maintaining perfect water levels since last week's placement of 6 small patches. Yelp, life doesn't get any better than this.

What kind? I'm looking at a combination of morning glories and moonflower for the evening display.

Due to my location (SE PA) I will probably be doing it every year as well.

The ones we got are called Confederate Jasmine. Hopefully the get a few white flowers before fall. Just starting to climb a bit now. Would have been nice to get them in back in April...

We have some Jasmine that is on a trellis by the house., the first year it was ok....th second year it took off and looks gorgeous...and climb climb climb... As in pulling out the runners that want to worm their way between the gutters and the roof and the brick and the redwood soffit, etc...

I would be worried about it but it's only hearty to 20 F. Doubt they'll survive the winter here.

Good point. It will be interesting to see what this winter brings. With EL Nino being as powerful as it is building up to be, should turn out to be a wet winter in central texas. As well as CA which could be feast or famine for them. Ground will be so dry major storms will run off and create slides etc...
