While opening my pool yesterday my Heat Siphon Z700 was leaking inside, really bad. I called the place I bought it to ask a few questions. Seems the heat exchanger is the source. They are supposed to have a lifetime warranty but I cant seem to get ahold of them.
-Anyone know if they are still in business?
-Called and sent email.
While calling poolheatpump.comI asked about a replacement and was told they sell Gulfstream. In the years since the Heat Siphon was installed I now have natural gas. SoI asked about a gas heater.
They told me the life span of a gas heater is about 5 years as opposed to 10-15 for a heat pump. Is this true ?

Thanks for any replies

My old heater was at least 10+ years old when I bought my house.
It needed some work and with the age opted to Installed a new heater and it’s going on 8-9 years
So yes, they last longer then 5 years

It all depends on the quality of the heater, and the chemistry of the pool. I'm awaiting a new heater to arrive next week. Only got 25 yrs out of mine in my signature. No leaks, core is still fine, it is the rest of the unit that finally wore out - controls, rusted out cabinet, etc.

Thanks for quick reply. The cost of both options was relatively the same around $4100.

Thanks for quick reply. I have to say the first 10 or so years it was great. Had a problem a few years ago and it was the contractors which I replaced, and was fine until this year. I wish I could get a hold of them , but not hopeful. If I get the part I can fix myself.
