Hey everyone,
I'm back for another pool season and it's off to a rocky start! My jandy filter sprung a leak from the Pressure guage. Upon closer examination it appears that the Adapter has cracked over the winter. A quick amazon search turned up a replacement part https://a.co/d/2yU7BuI but it won't be here for 5 days.... so i have a couple of questions.
1. Is this Adapter a proprietary thing from jandy? Is there a pressure gauge I could use that doesn't require this crumby Adapter?
2. Since I can't circulate the water, how do i prevent the water from turning green over the next few days?
Anything else I should try?
Thanks in advance!

What is your CYA?

You should pick up liquid chlorine, add 5 ppm daily, and stir it with your pool brush until your pump is running.

Do you have a submersible pump ? It would circulate the water for as long as you needed. Even if you got a little hazy from not filtering for an extended time, you'd be sanitary but slightly dirty and way better than a swamp.

Might be worth a trip to the hardware store to look for something that can serve as a plug until the adapter arrives. It's super important to get an exact match with the threads on the adapter.

Otoh I wouldn't be surprised if Jandy uses a random non-standard thread. They do that in other areas like SWG unions.

Thanks. I've ordered the brass version of the Adapter. Should arrive Wednesday. In the meantime I'll follow ajw22's suggestions and chlorinate. Will mix it in with the robot and sump pump.

Add about 1/2 gallon of 10% liquid chlorine a day.

I see you have a vinyl liner, maybe 10 CYA, and are up North, so add maybe 1/3 gallon per day.

I don't want to bleach your liner with very high FC.

What test kit do you use for chlorine testing?

Taylor 2006. Bleach liner with high cya?
I meant high FC.

Test your FC every day or two and keep your FC around 5 to 7.

Use my liquid chlorine amounts as a starting point.

Wrap clockwise with teflon tape and hand tighten.

Tighten too much and you will crack the plastic fitting.
