Hello. I noticed my local pool store is now testing for Phosphates. I have never had a test for those. My level came back at 3,762. Is this something that needs to be addressed? I suppose the concern is algae growth, but I have never had algae and stay on top of my chlorine.

If you obtain your own test kit for phosphates and they test at 3000+ parts per Billion, then if you wish you can by a quality remover from Orenda or SeaKlear and do a treatment. It will cloud your water and you will need to thoroughly clean your filter within a couple days of the treatment.

Thank you. What do you mean by thoroughly clean the filter? Does that entail taking it apart and washing the fins?

Yes. The phosphate remover binds with the phosphates and allows them to be captured by the filter. Any that's not completely removed from the filter will break back down and release the phosphates back in to the water.
