Hello,
I will be redoing my pool plumbing to install a heater.
Does this setup make sense? I'm new to this, so I would need some advice.
I read that the check valve should be at least 12 inches away from the heater's "water out" port.
The blue line is the water into the 3-way and the red line is back to the pool.
Thank you! : )

Seems reasonable to me. You should use hard Schedule 40, don't use flex. Not familiar with your heater, just make sure the bottom union is INPUT and top is OUTPUT.

Thank you for the info ! Yes the top is Output and Bottom input.

Do you agree about having the check valve at least 12" away from the heater output or you think I could make it shorter ?

Why not use a little bit of tigerflex/ FlexPVC ? I thought about using it for the part highlighted in blue on my original picture as it would be less 45 or 90 fittings and make it easier.

Is there a minimum distance required after the check valve before going into the 90 ? (Part highlighted in red.

Thanks again ! 🙏

Where did you read this?

Flex is great if you’re a pool builder installing a pool you’ll never have to maintain. Flex is terrible for the pool owner who has to live with the pool.

No.
