Blotchiness in newly built pool

We recently (4days ago) filled up our newly build pool after the plaster application of wet edge Luna quartz Madagascar. The pool company hadn’t been out until today to fire up the pumps and no one has touched or brushed the pool since the application. So the water and silt essentially stood there for 4 days. Well I had noticed some discoloration in the plaster, and chalked it up to possibly being leftover dust from the process. But after brushing it for the first time today I realize that it is not just dirt on the surface but stained. It does not come up with brushing.

Is there anything to do for this? Is it worth fussing over? It’s a dark plaster color so the light blotches show so much it’s bothering me.

Thanks for the help!IMG_2680.jpegIMG_2676.jpeg

Welcome to TFP.

That mottling is typical for dark colored plaster. It is difficult for plaster companies to get an even color with dark plaster.

Thank you! So nothing can be done unfortunately? The steps just look outright scratched on the edges. The spa where the most mottling is I guess I can live with since we’ll have the jets on most of the time but the steps look really bad even with water movement.

First of all wait a month or two for the plaster to cure and see how it develops.

Your builder will offer an acid wash which we do not recommend. The acid wash will remove a layer of plaster and reduce its life.

You may want to sand a light area with 80/100 grit wet/dry sandpaper or a diamond sanding pad and see what color is exposed.
