Good Evening everyone,

I used a gallon of Leslie's liquid CYA (Instant conditiner plus). The label indicated that I could either put it in the skimmer or dump it in the pool. I decided to dump it in the pool in small increment all around. Even though I shook the bottle well, the stuff settled right at the bottom immediately. About 5 minutes later I started brushing to spread it around and it eventually dissolved.

My questions :

- Is it in any way bad for the plaster for this stuff to be in contact with the bottom of the pool for any length of time? It says it is "ph neutral" but I am not sure if the "chunks" of "salt looking" stuff also are or if it is solid acid...

- I'll probably use powder and the sock method next time but If I ever use this product again should I do it differently or my method was safe?

Thank you!

Not good for any kind of acid to sit on the plaster. The dry CYA is much cheaper than the liquid and for that reason it’s more recommended than the liquid.

Liquid is more expensive than granular, and less problems. CYA is acidic and can discolor and damage pool surfaces. Brushing was the EXACT solution.

I'm inpatient some years and have used the liquid. I just brush it all around until it disappears. For your sized pool I'd be surprised if a gallon of liquid raised your CYA level over 20 points. So it would be very costly if you needed / used a lot more.
