Hi folks,

I've been having trouble with my weir doors getting 'stuck'.
In rough water (kids jumping, etc), they swing out past the skimmer and get stuck vertically up against a plastic tab, blocking flow into the skimmer.
After some research, I think the cause a broken 'weir door stop' which allows the door to swing out in the pool side and get stuck.
I think I've found the replacement part (I have Waterway brand skimmers, and this part looks like a match):
Amazon.com
https://lesliespool.com/waterway-weir-door-stop-519-6320/361400.html

First photo shows the broken tab hanging down.
Second photo is from underneath the tab looking up.

So it seems it is meant to be replaceable, but I can't get the old one out.
It appears to be a keyed/dovetail style fitting (you can see this if you zoom in on the first photo).
So it looks like it should just slide in/out, but mine will not budge.
I don't want to create more damage trying to get the thing out to replace it.

So my questions to the group here:
Is there some trick to removing this thing?
Are these normally glued in place? I wonder if my 2nd photo is showing glue residue?

Any tips appreciated, thanks!

Chris

You don't have to remove the old, just install the new to the side of it and the results will be the same. If you want you can saw the part that is hanging down, but it may damage the throat trying to remove the part that is glued in place.
Some new are glued, some come with a very strong double-sided tape.
