What does this Harwil QDS Flow Switch do for my chlorine system?

Hello,

Can someone please explain why I have this Harwil QDS flow switch? My water system is not salt and is as follows:
Inline Chlorinator with Nature 2 Express
Paramount Ozone with Flow Switch

The flow switch needs to be replaced because it is leaking from the top and no amount of teflon will prevent the leak. This is a special order from Harwil as no site sells this particular one for 2" pipe.

Some variable and multi speed pumps have a built in controller.

This requires the ClearO3 to have its own controlling device.

A common method in this type of instillation is to use a flow switch.

Paramount has available an add-on paddle flow switch (Paramount part# 004-402-0010-00 or Grid Controls part #
57-F1-225-00W).

The power is run through this switch and then to the ClearO3.

The flow switch is plumbed in the main line of the pool return.

When it senses flow the ClearO3 is turned on.

The ClearO3 should be wired to run with the filter pump which creates the air draw through the unit needed to create ozone.

Do not set the ClearO3 to run when the filter pump is off.

I would just remove the ozonator and all associated parts as you do not need it.

Stupid me should have known it detects flow to kick on the ozonator.

The better question, is there a suitable substitute to the Harwil that will do the same thing and readily available?

Grid Controls part # 57-F1-225-00W is the specified part.

In my opinion, you would be better off removing the Ozone System.

Are you saying the Ozonator is not providing any additional benefit so just remove it? I would prefer that as it is additional maintenance especially the flow switch. Please Advise

Yes.

You should remove the tab feeder and switch to SWG.

The tab feeder will destroy the heater.

You can buy from harwil directly...just call them. They are easy to deal with and will get it out.

Personally, I'd remove it.

I agree with @JamesW...remove the tab feeder and put in a saltwater chlorine generator.

It looks like you have minerals, tabs and ozone, which is a typical Texas setup.

I would get rid of all three and switch to SWG.
