We have some potential for snow/sleet/freezing rain this weekend and I was wondering if it was worth covering the filter, pump, and heater (not while running)? My two options would be to drape a tarp over the equipment or I could tie the tarp off and suspend it over the equipment. Pump is running 24/7 so not worried about water freezing unless power goes out

Here in Minn., I cover over the winter for only two reasons - reduce dirt build up on surfaces that I would have to clean off in the spring, and reduce exposure to UV that can slowly degrade most plastics and paint.

But rain/snow/sleet? Not a concern. Especially if any that sticks will melt in a short time.

Thanks. First snow/wintry mix with the pool equipment so wanted to check

Nope.

It would provide an environment for critters to nest in and damage your equipment.
