Orange skimmer basket

Hi, I have an inground 18x36 vinyl liner pool. My water is clear but my baskets are both stained orange. I have a Salt water pool and don’t have well water. Should I worry about the orange discoloration or just ignore it? I do have vitamin C but I read someone said you’d have to empty the pool after use and I can’t do that bc of the vinyl liner. Ty for your help.

That looks like pollen. Yellow pollen is pretty typical with pine trees...do you have pines around?

Mix a small amount of dish soap with warm water and gently scrub with a soft cloth or sponge, and then rinse thoroughly with clean water. If it is really stubborn, you can try using a slightly abrasive scrubbing pad or a paste made from baking soda and water. Rinse well...

Let us know if that works.

Ok thanks, I’ll give it a try.

Looks better. Do you have pines around? I still think it is pollen. Yellowing/browning of baskets is normal...

Do you have any vitamin C tablets? Try rubbing one on one of the stringers and see what that does.

We have city water. I had this problem in an above ground pool and used vitamin c and it helped. But I only use liquid chlorine if i need to and we have a salt water pool so I didn’t add any all summer I just went up on my salt cell. I can’t get the smell of iron off my hands now. It stinks!

I wouldn't do anything else at this point...do you have staining in the liner?

Wash your hands with baking soda and water, see if that helps. You can also try vinegar and baking soda. Then after either, wash with soap and water. Use rubber gloves in the future.

Thanks so much for your help! And I do have pine trees so it made sense it was pollen. I was hoping it was pollen. I’m in ga. So lots of pollen. But I don’t see any staining on the liner but my liner is royal amber so it’s really dark blue. So I don’t need to do anything about the iron? It won’t damage anything?
