Pentair Mastertemp 400 Error

I have a MasterTemp 400 that I believe might need a new board. When the heater is turned on it displays r14 and the service heater and service system then shuts off.

I am in the Houston area and am hosting a party Saturday night, where can I get a replacement board locally?

I understand the normal part 42002-0007 has been replaced by kit 461105 with 6 buttons.

R14 is not an error. It is the normal boot display. Normal boot up is 888, 128 and then rX where X is the software revision number.

You need to flip the top over and look at the diagnostic LEDs on the board or on the Fenwal box.

Here is a pic of my board. Where is the diagnostic LED?

I am using the ScreenLogic app to tell the heater to turn on.
Is it telling the heater to heat?

The Automation just closes the Fireman's Switch.

You can remove the automation wires and jump the Fireman's Switch to take the Automation out of control.

That will tell you if the Automation is the problem or if the problem is with the heater.

I’m kind of at a loss now. When I took the cover off yesterday the power was off to the unit so I didn’t see any LED. An hour ago I went and turned it on with the ScreenLogic app and it looked like it started fine with no warning led on the Fenwal and the panel display didn’t have the service lights on. The panel lcd showed a temperature on it but it never came on. I pushed the pool button on the display and a few seconds later the unit fired up a as normal and had been running for over an hour. I adjusted the desired temp on the panel and it does not match what the ScreenLogic app says but it is working.

How much is it off?

If the heater temp is not accurate or if it is set below the ScreenLogic temp, then the heater might not work.

You might also have a bad membrane pad, which can cause random control inputs as the buttons can be closed without a push.

For example, the Heater Off button might be intermittently closing and turning the heater off.

I set the pad to 90 and the app to 85. I tried closing the app and then changing the temp to see if they would sync but they did not.

Started at 71ish and it’s 81 now and still heating.

The automation does not communicate temperature settings to the heater.

When using automation the temperature on the MasterTemp should be set to 104 and left there. All temperature control will be done by the automation cycling the heater on and off.
