Hot motor. Blowing fuse.

I ASSUME that the fuse is blowing because of excess heat. The motor is fairly hot to the touch.

Found it dead earlier today. I cleaned out the skimmer. It was a "normal" level of crud. Maybe a quarter full, loosely packed. I cleaned out the pump basket. It was 80 percent free from debris.

The motor is prob about 4-5 yrs old. This is the second one I've installed in the last 12 yrs.

Any ideas? Just an old tired motor or something more sinister? The pressure differential gauge on top of the filter doesn't appear bad at all. I last backwashed about a month ago. Pool sees very little use.

Thanks in advance.

Turn the power off to the pump.
Check the impeller for debris.
Check if the pump spins freely...either by spinning the impeller, or putting a hex wrench in the back of the motor and spinning, if that is available on your pump.

Impeller...........Total HP required.
SPX2600C............0.60
SPX2605C............0.75
SPX2607C............1.10
SPX2610C............1.50
SPX2615C............2.00

SP2600C...1/2 total hp (0.5 to 0.6 H.P).
SP2605C...3/4 total hp (0.75 H.P).
SP2607C...1.0 total hp (1.0 to 1.1 H.P).

That pump and impeller match what's been on for a decade or more.
Check the impeller model stamped on the impeller vs. the motor total hp.

If amps do not exceed the breaker rating, turn off power and check power wires for continuity to ground.

Do not do any electrical unless you are 100% sure you know how to do it safely.
