This house I’ve recently moved to has a pool, built in spa, and a pond with two water features. In the pic above, the cartridge filter and heating unit are to the left while the sand filters for the pond are to the right. The L pipe coming out of the ground just left of the “o/flow” pipe is labelled “Vac” but is hidden behind the valve.

Which valves do I need to close before vacuuming?

The suction valve to the right, in the picture, should have its handle point to 6 o'clock to close the pool suction and virtually all the suction would then be from the "vac" line, except for the port that is closed in the picture, to the right, that will be opened to suction. Not sure what that would be going to as it is reduced to what looks like 3/4" and has a red-handled ball valve in it.

Somehow I missed your comment, sorry.

Would you be able to indicate which valve and port you are referencing please? Thanks.
