I tested my pool today and we plan on swimming tonight, these were my results and I want to know if my chlorine levels are safe
FC 10.78
TC 10.78
CC 0.00
pH 7.6
Cyanuric Acid 67.00
I think, if I'm understanding correctly, that my FC of 10.78 if safe to swim in because my Cyanuric Acid level is 67.00.
Is this correct and the pool is safe for swimmers?

*Your kit is missing some important tests-
Fas/dpd test, ch test, & the all important cya test.
you can buy all these separately but it would cost about the same as just purchasing the whole tf100

It is safe to swim so long as all 3 are true:
- Fc is between minimum & slam level for your cya
- ph is in the 7’s
- you can see the bottom of the deep end for swimmer safety.

We generally don't make recommendations based on pool store testing.

Why? P@@l st@re testing is notoriously inaccurate. We could actually do more harm than good.

Right - that’s the reason you need the fas/dpd test.
Most pools that have cya often have the need to be able to accurately test above 5ppm fc on a regular basis.
The fas/dpd tests fc & cc separately & accurately from 0.5ppm to 50ppm

I do wonder if it would be so hard to just answer if numbers are safe regardless if they were collected from store or personal tests. Both could be inaccurate for different reasons. I suppose most tests only go to 5 because all info I read state swimming in chlorine over 5 is dangerous.
 
Swimming in 5ppm Chlorine with 0 CYA is way more harsh than swimming in 10ppm Chlorine with 80 CYA.

If it wasn't, then New Dude and his family would be glowing green how hot he runs his Chlorine. :LOL:

thank you for the insight, I appreciate it. Next year I will get a better home test as the one that I have only goes to 5 for chlorine and it left me guessing so I had store verify chlorine was very high. I just don't understand why a simple yes "if" those are the numbers its safe or no its not couldn't be addressed above just because I did a home test AND store test. I was really stressed about it but have remedied that situation to the best of my current ability. I appreciate you responding with a straight forward answer to my question

I was giving you the data I had from my home test, color was darker than the 5 max that my current test reads to and my cya was in the high 60's, because I couldn't get specific read I asked here. How is that garbage? I had store run a test to verify chlorine was as high as I suspected from my home test. I asked if it was safe if those numbers were correct, not if someone agreed with me following up my home test with a store ran test.

Because above 5 doesn't mean anything. 45 is above 5. And above 5 is the only reliable thing reported.

We've seen the pool store be a mile off, literally *thousands* of times. This may be another one and we put no faith in their report.

Don't take my word for it. Read up. Once you've seen it yourself, over and over and over again, you'll disregard what the pool store says too. :)

Pool chemistry is an exact science, without exact numbers, we simply can't, in good conscience, give you advice.
What if your chlorine is 20...which is over 5 and we tell you it's fine and you get chemical burns.
Real data by a known quality test kit is the best and safest thing you can do.
