Crew is here installing Pebbletec Pebblesheen finish today and water filling tomorrow.
PB is having me follow the manufacturer guide, which the forum has posted here.

Question:
The document says not to add chlorine for at least 48 hours.
It's Phoenix. It's sunny and over 100 degrees.
Is there risk of algae not having chlorine on fill day or 48 hours after?

What is the source of your fill water?

What is the FC, pH, TA, CH of your fill water?

What color is your finish?

You should be okay for 48 hours if you promptly add liquid chlorine after.

The reason for no chlorine added for 48 hours is to not bleach out the color in the curing plaster. B;ue color can get bleached and lighten.

It's your call if you want to add 2-3ppm of chlorine and risk lightning the color. Although chances are you will never know the difference.

I would follow the PB requirements and then add your liquid chlorine early on day 3, but don't go hog wild on it. Ask them if you can begin adding CYA now without issues as that will help you when you do get to add chlorine. Remember too that you will need to regularly add muriatic acid for a year or two as the plaster cures and gets to a PH equilibrium. Then also remember that you will use liquid chlorine to get to the FC goal and then the SWG to maintain it. Keep in mind that your goal of CSI is between -.3 and 0 to avoid calcium buildup on your salt cell.

You are mixing start-up advice and after start-up advice which can get confusing.

No SWG usage for the first 30 days.

CSI should be positive and up to +0.5 during the start-up.
