Long time owner 20 years with vinyl and chlorine tabs. Plaster pool now 13 months old with swg. Ph rise still an issue. About a gallon a week. I’ve researched threads here google etc. some say it’s normal some not. I test for chlorine, ph total alk. Bring water samples to a long time trusted place.
Current numbers
3 fc
60 Ta
7.8 ph
250 Ch
48 cya
3300 salt
Temp 90
The pool places csi says it’s good
When I run the numbers through pool math app it seems a 7.8-8.2 ph results in good csi.
I have not just let the ph go see where it stabilizes or if it does but I cant test above 8.2. Unless I let it ride and bring a sample.
Suggestions? Pool looks good. No scaling I can see. Swg is an oversized hayward good for 40k. No build up occurring on cell.

I suspect you know the answer you are going to get...get your own kit. Here are the ones we recommend. Link-->Test Kits Compared

Not sure which of those number are your numbers or their numbers.

Get a kit, post a full set of results from your kit. We'll get you going.

All those numbers minus cya and ch are mine. I have checked all my numbers against theirs and they are spot on. The ch doesn’t change quickly and the cya takes a lot of reagents. I have played with the pool math app. Changing salt or ch a reasonable amount doesn’t change the csi appreciably. It’s the ph and TA. Cya as well. So I think the numbers ate accurate. What is evident is that where my numbers are running a 7.8-8.0 ph is better.

Fyi I’m using a taylor kit and for the first several months I ran my numbers versus theres and they were pretty much spot on. They consistently read salt a little lower but my cell reads salt and it is real close to my numbers. So basically I test ph cl daily. Ta every few days and bring a sample weekly. I’m confident in the numbers. Not a pool rookie here. Just different pool system.

The pool store TA tends to be adjusted TA so its not likely comparable to the taylor kit which measures it directly. Your real TA is likely higher which drice the pH up faster. I have practially brand new plaster and get no pH rise at all by just floating a couple trichlor tabs in the water.

They report TA and adjusted. My readings track their non adjusted pretty close.

If thats the case you found the one pool store in the whole country where thats the case. 😉 its been so bad we dont give advice based on their testing. What taylor kit are you using?

K2006c. This pool store is a mom and pop operation. Been knowing the couple for 25 plus years. They are using a commercial tester. They are not the typical pool store that tries to upsell everything. I tracked their numbers against mine and pool math for a couple months. It was spot on. Now their csi calc must be a little different because it typically is a little lower. Based on what I am seeing with the pool math I’m going to run my ph 7.8-8 and see what happens.IMG_8822.jpeg
