Hayward Omni PL - Won't come back after firmware.

So, I figured today would be the day to update the firmware. Why ? I have a new Hayward salt cell and I did not see it listed on the controller so I figured it would be in the new software.

I did everything as they said in the firmware / release notes. It rebooted after going to 100% This is for the MSP.

Now it just sits on the loading circle and that is it. tried power off and I get no further.

Any ideas.... I can't call Hayward till Monday.. Pool installer is not sure and expert won't be in till Monday. Hate having the pumps off till then in this heat.

UPDATE: I bypassed the pump relay so I got them on so this is not as critical also, have a good supply of shock.

THANKS for any help or ideas. Dumb to do this on the weekend I guess.

Thanks !

I used FAT32 and a 128meg thumb drive.. BUT... I did not back up the OS before updating. My bad.. I have done firmware on may devices so I figured it would work.
I wonder if its looking for that OS backup on the drive and can't find it as I don't see the ability to select a boot path like a Win Box.
Will be calling Hayward tomorrow although what I have read is that they are not very good at tech support.
At worse, I figure I will have to buy a new motherboard for the Omni PL system and the lesson learned is not to mess with firmware if its working ever again.

Yes it’s very likely bricked at this point.

Was thinking if I put a basic backup from the same OS on the thumb drive and it may grab that ? Will see what Hayward says... I found very limited info on how to use the backup if you made one so I assume if it sees it on the drive it will just grab it. Hopefully my pool store has someone with a similar system.

Then I just go thru the config tool to fix it to my system.

Attached what I had BEFORE I went down this firmware adventure....

Thanks for you advice..

In the end I bricked it. My pool company got Hayward to replace the controller under warranty (so far I have not got a bill for it) It was out of the three year warranty so I am happy that they covered it. Not sure why but happy they did as these are around $600. It should have updated and did not ?? Or was this a old controller when the pool was installed in 2021 and they just were nice. I did learn that the flip lid display is the main part of the omni-logic and this is where the firmware update occurs. I wish you luck on your similar problem.
