I'm just wondering how often other owners of vinyl above ground pool kits that came with the pump or have a pump that uses the disposable paper like filter cartridges are having to clean and replace their filter cartridge? I wash mine daily and usually replace it completely every other week. I have not had any issues as of yet with algae or water issues but my filter cartridge is always dirty when I check it daily and I am wondering if that is what most other users have come across as well. I do have a skimmer on one of my two intake valves so it helps a little.

floating skimmer or through the wall? if through the side, use hair nets over the basket. stops a LOT of gunk from ever getting to the filter.
someone may come along with the link, or look around in Pool School - there are better non-disposable filters you can buy that last a lot longer and take repeated washings so much better.
BUT...almost everybody upgrades to a larger sand filter at some point. I made the stupid toy last a long time (see my signature) but it was a LOT of work.
The skimmer is just a floating one. I looked into a new pump but it just wasn't in the budget this year. Spent a lot of money building a pool pad area and putting up lighting and solar cover reel this year instead of using the tarp we had last year lol. Next year hopefully I can do a pump upgrade and a small platform deck
I wish they wouldn't even include those silly pumps with the pools. just be up front and sell a better pump separately.
"instant" pop-up pools - like painting, the two things they don't tell you are the prep and correct equipment will cost a lot more than the paint. LOL
learn the basic chemistry here, don't be afraid of chlorine and you can make your set up work. it definitely can be done but when you get the better filter you will be so glad you did.
