While cleaning the pool today I noticed some white clumps and granules floating in the water on the pool floor and in the filter. We had some stuff that took me away from the pool for a whole day so I didn't get to test my water for one day the evening before I tested and everything was good and when I tested this morning I was still within allowable ranges just on the lower side. My cc is 0 and the water is clear enough I'm able to see the clumps in the water. I recently had to lower my ph so I'm thinking it's possible that it's some of the ph down that i did get fully dissolved before adding or that my one day away caused algae. The pool stayed covered for the whole day and the pump ran it's cycle as normal. I have a picture of one of the clumps

It's possibly calcium. I've never seen algae that looks like that. Can you put a drop of muriatic acid or vinegar on it? If it fizzes it is calcium based. What is the calcium level of the pool?

If I find another one I'll do that I smooshed this one. I have a vinyl above ground temporary pool so I only monitor cya ph fc and cc.

What happened when you smooshed it?
It was smooth and soft and I think I could see granules in it. Looking back it appears I had this happen to me last year as well but I was fighting an algae bloom all summer. I will test the ch when I do the OCLT test tonight. Figure just to be safe I should do that since we are leaving for a week on vacation soon.
