Manage your pH and ignore TA (test for it, but don't "treat" it). Follow this:Thank you! Should I be concerned about TA being so high? I plan on picking up Muriatic Acid today to lower PH, which if I understand correctly, will help lower TA (with aeration).
- When TA > 80: When pH gets to 8.0, lower your pH to 7.6. pH will rise. When pH gets to 8.0, lower to 7.6 again.
- When TA is between 60 and 80. DON'T lower pH to 7.6. It will be fairly stable between 7.8 and 8.0
Lowering Total Alkalinity (TA) Quickly with the Acid Aeration Method
Thought I'd make a post that might help others. We've had quite a few members this year with high TA, and I've been typing the same information over and over. I'm going to post this so I can link it to help others. High TA can cause rapid pH rise. High TA is typically caused by high TA fill...
