Hi. This is a long shot - is there a fix or “hack” to address this crack? It’s not leaking even though it’s on the return side (more pressure), but I’m sure it’ll finish breaking at some point. I really want to avoid replacing the valve (no pipe slack). Thanks.

I don't think there's much you can do at this point other than watch to ensure it doesn't leak. No news is good news. Any epoxy of similar product like JB Weld may not have much to adhere to, and not much to be gained at this time anyway. I'd leave those things for a final last-ditch option if needed.

i figured. and you're right, i'll try the JB weld or super glue/cement approach as last resort. but that would be the last fix since upon removing the screw the JB weld would break. thanks

You can glue the lid in place with PVC glue.

It is tricky to get the glue only on the seal and not inside the valve, but it can be done.

Also, you can never open the valve again.

Similar to JB. This is a one-time solution. If I need to replace a seal, I probably wouldn’t be able to seal it right again.
When it does leak, I would use PVC cement in the crack and push it back together.
Not a bad idea. I also thought of rigging a pipe band strap if needed.
