Hi,

Trying to fix spots on our hydrazzo pool finish. 18,500 pool with spa. One year old.

We had very small discoloration areas and my husband used a diluted muriatic acid on the areas as was instructed to do so by pool installer. My husband poured it into pool and it made these dark areas.

What would cause this?

My husband confirmed with pool company that he was correct in how he applied the acid.

We filled pool for the first time in 6/30/23 and we believe an acid wash took place before the filling.

If we didn't have an initial acid wash after install would this muriatic acid pour cause the hydrazzo to darken like this?

We want to fix it and trying to figure it out what happened so any guesses would be very helpful!

I will post pictures soon. Website is saying they are too large to upload so will need to figure it out!

Thank you!pool hydrazzo.png

It is really not fixable without acid washing the entire pool to bring out the darker blue on all the plaster.

Your color faded a bit from the sun and chlorine. The acid removed a layer of plaster and exposed the darker color below.

Consider that area some character in your finish. If that is the only imperfection you have you are doing good.

Yes, after talking to the pool installer that is the direction we are going. It is more than just this spot. It is in the spa, sundeck, steps and visible areas. I was planning on posting more pics originally but had issues with pic sizes being too large but figured it out now. Thank you!
