I’ve had a few of these strange white deposits on a few of my tiles nearly from when we first filled up our new pool this February. I can’t say exactly when I first noticed them but it was definitely before I finally got my TF100 test kit in March.

Any guesses as to what they are and how I can get rid of them?

Yup, as I suspected. Water is finding its way into the wall either through the stone joints or maybe from leaks around the waterfall.

To stop it you need to fix where the water is getting into the wall.

Is it a lack of a water barrier behind the stone and something I should talk to the pool builder about? Or some sort of crack in the concrete?

Or is it most likely that there’s a leak from the water line going to the waterfall?

Any of the above. I cannot tell from afar.

Could be some cracked grout lines between stones allowing water in.

It takes come close examination and detective work of the wall area.
