So PB put salt in yesterday

So I used pool math to add salt, from 0-2800 required 318 lbs of salt in my 13600 gall pool. So they added 320 lbs. all brushed in and the turned the cell on to 50% production.

Odd that the salt level is reading higher??

I have a Taylor salt test on order but here are the diagnosis on the cells.

Hayward Aquarite is not very accurate in its salt calculations. It may be more or less then actual.

Okay, well I guess I wait for the Taylor salt test. I still don’t understand the instant vs avg number? I did not get a manual. I assume the ranges on the app is showing are no issue? I purposefully undershot the salt to hit 2800ppm.

Assume there is no offset in the automation to adjust to the actual correct level, once I get the salt test I will figure it out.

Instant salt is a calculation based on the current volts and amps.

The average salt is based on the volts and amps calculation over the last 3 180 minute polarity cycles.

I did not get a manual.

Download it from Haywards website.

As long as the cell is happy you are good. Keep amps under 7.

Assume there is no offset in the automation to adjust to the actual correct level,

Nope. You cannot change what the board is calculating.

So it’s at 8.14 Amps, how does one keep it under 7?
Show me what system you have. Some systems have a 10A max and then 8 is ok.

Without equipment details in your signature we are just having a general conversation.

Per who ? Not your baseline test. :)

So let's say that another way. You added 2800 ppm to an unknown amount. It doesn't sound like such a good plan that way, does it ?

Don't feel too bad about it, many fall for this one and you never will again. There's no better teacher than a foulup. (y)

I don’t feel bad, I trusted that the PB actually knew what they were doing. So would you suggest I drain a few inches of water and refill?

We'll burn that bridge when we get there and the k1766 comes. :)

Mine had me soak my cell for 3.25 hours in straight acid over its lifespan, just like he did to his. It was to remove calcium scale. Neither of us had any calcium in our pools.

You got off easy. (y)

Why? It's not out of range is it? Mine is running at 3600 at the moment. More salt is a better pool water feel IMO.

So actually it says the "ideal" range is between 2700-3400. And also says the overall range is 1200-8000.

It does. Since the OP appears to let the PB do all the installation and settings, I'm guessing the PB did not adjust the default high salt settings. Also the cell will shut down if it exceeds the amp setting. That would more likely occur at higher salt concentrations and higher water temperature.
