A while back, I heard from a friend who was involved in pool "rules" in Ohio that they were thinking of eliminating CYA use. He passed away not long after we had that conversation. I haven't heard anything about that since. Has anyone heard anything like that? Is the "TFP Way" still that we use CYA in our pools and refer to the CYA/Chlorine chart to determine appropriate chlorine levels?

Some local jurisdictions have regulations on water chemistry for commercial pools. Some do not allow CYA use in public or commercial pools.
There are no regulations for water chemistry in residential pools.

The government bureaucrats who regulate commercial pools are not scientists and all follow federal guidelines that have not been updated since the last century. They also have to deal with high bather loads and environments residential pools do not have.
